920 owner here. It seems Portico update is main culprit for me when it comes to battery draining excessively. Prior to update I was getting 4 days of light use before a recharge was necessary. Now I'm lucky if I get 24 hours. Have now uninstalled WhatsApp. Only turn on network when I must have it (rarely). Went from 80% to 24% overnight. Have Wi-Fi on only about 12 hours out of a 24 hour day. Will see if WhatsApp being uninstalled makes significant improvement.
Nokia, do you have a solution?
Thank you!

@Athanasius
Are you in a weak 4G/LTE reception area and it is continually hunting for signal since enabled by software update?

I had an episode yesterday when my phone went from 96% to flat out dead in 4 hours. I have evidence as it was recorded by my battery meter graphing application. This was with no use or GPS on in the background. My phone was sitting on a counter top. That shouldn't be possible.
I think it's the third time I've experienced this mystery drain.
However, there are days where I seem to have heavy use of the phone and I get great battery life. This is really perplexing.

Later on today, I'll work on these settings, then restart the phone (funny how restarts have been a part of life since Windows 3.0), then give it a couple days, then report the findings. Thanks for your input, Mr. Overlord!

The following may help a few of y'all worried about battery draining problems.
OK, according to an AT&T Device Service Center technician, my phone's batttery checks out OK. He did notice, however, several open "minimized" apps. He asked me how I exited apps I had used. I said Start button. He said that only minimizes app, so it remains running taking the battery down with it.
I'll check this out over the next few days, and report my findings.
In the meantime, if you're new to smartphones like I am, this may help you with battery consumption issues.
A happy and blessed 2013 to all!

Got the exact same drain phenomenon overnight after downloading the update. Down from 4 full days without a charge to 24 hour at most (my phone is just a month old, so it cannot be a battery usage phenomon). I double-checked all the options mentioned in that thread (and for sanity sake, just redid it): the wifi, bluetooth and RFID were all off; the network connection is capped to 3G; all the other options like location/brightness/etc. were exactly the same. And I am an app-closer freak used to the Windows Phone OS (i.e. love to have be back home with all the apps shut down), so I am not really sure as of what could be the cause of that drain...
I have just noticed that my phone which had a very steady network connection in the past seems to be checking more than before and changes bands more frequently. I have also noted a new icon in the network desciber: 3G+ or H+ appear now in the top notification bar (i.e. the + sign is new). That was not the case prior to Portico. Could there be some network connection instability inherited from the update which would be forcing the phone in a constant network search that would drain the battery? Would love to read your informed opinion...
Thanks
