New Nokia's (820/920) & Outlook sync

[ Edited ]

I currently use an HTC HD2 with Outlook 2007 email, calendar, contacts and tasks.

There is much disinformation on the internet. So i'd like to ask 2 questions:

- (plz allow me to ask this : ) does MS Office 2010 / 2013 include tasks?

- How can i sync my PC's Outlook 2007/2010/2013 with the new Nokia's? Is it still necessary to use a live account? I Hope not!.....

You can set up your Outlook account on the phone as a MfE account and eveyrthing you set to sync will sync.

hi Irmmf, welcome to the board.

MS made an awesome Hotmail sync enabler.

just create an account and even if you do not use the email, it will sync everything else for you with your device.

it works like a free MS Exchange.

here is the link.

I have used it on mine and some of my friends WP devices.

Re: New Nokia's (820/920) & Outlook sync

I wanna thank you for all your replies - there is a lost of misinformation on the internet.

I think it's a shame that Microsoft wants to force consumers to upload their private data to the cloud, there's nothing better that syncing my WM6.5 via wifi or usb. Of course, i'll have my outlook in every pc, phone and tablet, but what about privacy/security and data consumption (costs) questions?.....

Kind regards

you know, there is a solution if you don't mind paying for it.

it used to be exchange was really expensive. but Microsoft has released office365 and you can get a $5/mo plan that includes exchange and 24/7 support.

total worth it IMO.

makes switching devices very easy and I never get my contacts messed up anymore.

you can also get your own domain and use that for your exchange with them.

I agree with previous person who said they preferred to use the direct sync between phone and Outlook via a USB cable.

Agree that users should be able to choose to sync to Outlook locally or to the cloud. Many users either do not want to or are are barred from syncing to the cloud. Nokia Suite should be updated to accommodate this rather than expecting users to pay for a third party app. This is the ONE THING that stops me from upgrading to Lumia 920.

When you setup an outlook.com email account, live.com,  and sync it to your PC outlook you are not syncing to the cloud. After live.com has your contacts you sync your phone to live.com.

I use the live.com account to log onto windowsphone apps, xBox live.

There is a Nokia app named 'Transfer My Data". It is for the 820 and 920 and it transfers your data, contacts from your old phone to your new phone. Don't know if that will help or not.
