To be honest, I think a device should last at least a full day under heavy daily usage, but that's just my opinion.
Now many devices out there with "smartphone" capabilities that can do that.
You can always squeeze out a few hours by disabling wlan cellular data and such, why isn't there some automatic option to turn them on if a connection is needed? Or every 30 minutes (whatever) to check for emails, would be nice.
Some kind of quick menu similar to Android would be nice to have these things quickly accessible, it's pretty annoying to go to the home screen and do it "manually".
The fact is, that all these features just require so much power, and people want slim phones apparently, just doesn't add up. Personally, I'd prefer a more bulkier phone for improved battery performance.

Hi all,
First of all can all those playing my country is better than yours pack it in - these forums are not for international bickering - Nokia had to start the role out somewhere and why not India and Singapore?? FYI I'm from UK and I have no illusions of grandure as others from my country on this forum seem to have had.
Anyway that out of the way the Nokia website now say the FW is available here (UK) too so lets all have a go over the weekend and finally the Lumia may work to its full potential

Installed 12070 last night on my Lumia800 and what a difference to the battery drainage, with some heavy usage, lasted over 22 hours where before was lucky with 14 to 16. Auto focus seems faster and works better when shooting videos. No other changes found so far - and also no other (new) problems ![]()

If people are desperate to update the Lumia, search the web for a guide to update your Lumia 800 , otherwise wait for the firmware to be released in your region and approved by your carrier !

If I have helped at all, a click on the White Star is always appreciated :

Wahoooo
http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/product/lumia80
Is now showing the update on the uk/gb site
Does that mean its now in the pipelines
Without mentioning the unmentionable can the trick in zune be used to allow this update to be forced.
After recently hard reseting it and losing everything in the hope of getting the battery to last longer. Its reverted to going down hill. Looks like another welcome update nice one nokia/microsoft

thanks for an in depth explanation there.......
Like many other owners here in the uk I have a sim free unlocked handset which currently uses a 02 sim, i don't want my phone to be subject to a network branding. So want to be able to download the update before i get the carrier version when and if it appears.
