Update: now 4 days without freezings. It seems like disabeling WiFi does the trick!!
Also my phone's battery performance improved drasticly without WiFi on (only 3g).
It seems like the WP8 WiFi driver needs a major update for Lumia 920 devices.

It's not only the WiFi. The phone froze again with WiFi disabled after 3 hours.

Athloni - here's what we think we know so far, and hopefully this message will save you from having to read the previous 18 pages of discussion. The phones are freezing for a variety of reasons, and it appears it has something to do with the communication protocols. Numerous 'quick fixes' have been proposed, including yours - disabling wifi. In some cases and for some people, they appear to work. People have disabled wifi, bluetooth, gps, find my phone, xbox features, and many have reinstalled the sim, etc., yet no single solution has solved the problem for everyone. People have been offering their imei numbers in the hopes that a pattern emerges. Not sure that one has. I'm hoping that some of the members' direct discussions with Nokia will yield a solution, now that it appears that Nokia has acknoweldged the widespread problem. The only surefire thing that I've found that keeps the phone from freezing is to disable the entire phone. Yes, turn it off. It won't freeze then. Of course, you won't have a phone, you'll have a paperweight. But it won't freeze. Outside of that, it appears that most fixes last 3-4 days and fail. My phone freezes once or twice each week, and I'm still keeping a chicken on standby in the event that a soft reset won't work and voodo is required. Good Luck!

This problem is a disaster for Nokia and all it's users. I don't want to buy an iPhone, but if this was an issue on that phone there I bet would be an international scandal and Apple would replace all the affected phones straight away. There would be none of the reports from people like me having to wait 2 weeks for a 'repair' on a phone that clearly has a existential problem. Nokia, you've got some great phones here, but you badly need to change your customer support..

well one more guy in the I got freeze club.. I just brought a Lumia 920, 2 days back,, I am already having issues with it after pressing the power/lock key sometimes the screen freezes, you can't scroll and sometimes you can't even unlock the screen by sliding up the lock screen. So, what i usualy do is I just lock the phone again using the lock button to unfreeze it, after doing this the phone works properly , but i don't think so it should be doing these kind of things specially when it's brand new and I haven't even started to install anything in it,, god knows what will happen when its fully loaded. I hope you can fix these things with some of your windows updates and if possible can you please provide me with some tips on the same issue

Jagduru, yours sound like a different problem than what the rest are having in this thread, which is that we're unable to wake the phone from sleep at all sometimes (ie nothing appearing on the screen at all).
I would take mine back to the store for a replacement or repair if I were you. I took mine (which had the freezing problem) back because it developed randomly coloured lines all over the right side of the screen... I hope they'll give me a new one without the freezing problem -_-
It seems the Lumia 920 suffers from a lot of different build problems and it's immensely frustrating how Nokia is completely silent on all these problems. Is anyone from Nokia even reading this forum?

No more freezes since 5 days now. With WiFi enabled I had at least one or two freezes each day.
It has definetly something to do with WiFi!

I have disabled the wifi and that has solved my freezing problem. Its been about 10 days since
doing this and hasn't frozen once. I was freezing up 2 to 3 times a day. Also I've had much less
dropped calls. Now if only I can get the proximity sensor problem fixed. Its a great phone when
it works like it should. I hope Nokia gets on these issues soon.
Hi Prime69, I'm glad to hear you have the same experiance as me.
The freezing problems have defenittly something to do with Wifi.
Disabeling WiFi will solve the freezing for (almost) all people untill Nokia comes with a fix. I prefer to enable WiFi to reduce 3g data usage.

Yes, I agree it has something to do with WiFi definitely...or the communication protocols/switching in general. Before I read this forum today I had to change my wifi router password and forgot to update my phone. My phone froze 2-3 times in the space of a couple hours, which though it freezes daily, is unusual. I then realized I hadn't updated my wifi password on my phone so I did so and it hasn't froze since. ...I'm not going to turn wifi off completely since that was the main purpose of getting my phone - having a pocket computer to get e-mail, etc off of...not so much the phone functionality. Hope they fix this sooooon!

Hi,
Now on my 2nd Lumia 920. Great phone when it works but this freezing issue needs to be resolved.
My phone does freeze more when WiFi is on up to 7 times a day. With WiFi and all other features off it only freezes about twice a week
The IMEIs for both are
3541490562 - first phone
3541490578 - second phone
Come on Nokia give us a fix.

Went for almost 2 months of no freezing at all. Then all of a sudden it started 2 days ago where I plug it in overnight and it freezes and the only way to wake it is a soft reset. Didn't install any updates or anything, I've left everything possible turned on setting wise and for 2 months everything worked great till the other day. 3 days in a row it's been freezing. This is a going to be deal breakers for people, so either it's MS or it's Nokia but it needs to get straightened out.

Yesterday my phone froze again (normally!!!) at night charging. I tried to make soft reset at the morning and… nothing! I tried hard reset… nothing again!!! The phone was completed dead! No vibration, nothing to screen, nothing… I gave it to Nokia Care and I must wait now 15-20 days. Ok, I ‘m sure now that the phones have hardware problems. Back again to HTC Mozart!

Happened again this morning with nothing going on it app wise. This is going on 4 days in a row.

Disabeling WiFi helped for me to prevent freezings during the night.

Hello guys,
two news today:
1) my phone freezed again after about 7 days of uptime, just after upgrading Nokia Apps (nav, maps, transport) that are now called HERE ("here maps", "here transport"). A few minutes after doing the update through the Marketplace, the phone was frozen.
2) I've been contacted by Nokia again. They called me and asked to bring my phone to a Nokia Care centre and leave it to them, saying that they will follow the repairing process and make them give it back to me as soon as possible.
I'm a bit confused about this... I do not have another phone at this time, and really don't want to buy one more just for a few weeks. I may ask a temporarily handset at work maybe, but what is not convincing me is the fact that I believe that all this would be a true waste of time.
So many people sent their phone to Nokia Care for repairing, got it back and the issue has never been solved.
I'm pretty sure that they would refurbish it, perform the hardware tests through the Nokia Care application, leave it on for a while without any SIM and then give it back to me saying it's ok or they weren't able to reproduce the issue.
This happened to so many people.
However, I said to the Nokia guy to read careful all the posts on this forum and that many users sent their phone to the assistance and nothing has been done. He said that this doesn't matter, because all devices are different, and use different components. So our ipothesis was true.
He said that this is the reason for the delayed deployment of updates, because not all devices have the same components inside.
So they want to check mine.
I'm a bit disappointed, don't have so much time to waste in this period, don't like the idea of resetting again my phone, and overall I don't like the fact that it seems as if they are not considering at all that there could be software issues beyond all those problems.
I'll keep you up to date.
