Rogers (Canada) not providing DataSense

As Rogers does not seem interested in activating DataSense I am considering unlocking my Limia 920 and moving to Bell who does offer it. If I unlock my device and move to the new carrier will the application appear or am I still limited by the configuration for Rogers?

hi mate,

you may still be limited by what Rogers has done. if your phone is from Rogers, its product code and also firmware may be tied to Rogers still, and hence even if you move to Bell, the Data Sense feature won't come to your handset, as it is a different product code specifically for Rogers (and they have all their custom wallpapers/apps etc). you would have needed a 920 that was from Bell.

I may be mistaken, but it would pay to check with Bell. they may enable the Data Sense feature as part of just needing a SIM and active service with them....or it may be a deeper thing that is tied in with the custom firmware for the phone.

you'd have to have it dev unlocked aswell which costs about $ 99 /yr to have to do the one time provision change which should add it. I'd ask in ms dev forums about it or xda to see if it can be done in wp8 yet
