I would try another sim even though your sim works on other phone. Are you getting an invalid sim error? You could backup your data and try resetting your phone. Failing that, have it checked out at your local nokua care point. You can locate your local care point uding the link beloe.

@darthtata85
No doubt you have checked Email retrieval which could possibly be set to "as items arrive"

Whilst Nokia had something for Windows Phone 7.5 it hasn't materialised so far for Windows Phone 8 unfortunately.

I will offer a few more suggestions. Firstly, turn off your phone's ability to download updates automatically. Just allow it to notify you. Next, make sure you are not running on a POP3 email server and allowing the email app to download automatically. I imagine it may start to download every attachment you are sent, which may be large. Try to use IMAP4 or Exchange type protocols for your email instead (check your online email service settings for such options). Also, turn off the auto backup of photos and videos to Skydrive completely. Just some ideas. I do not get this huge data usage on mine.

I have exactly the same problem. Got through 400 mb data in two days - twice, Previous HTC smartphone used a maximum of 200 mb a month, and I have had smartphones for years with maps, email et etc, and never this type of problem.
Talked to EE (just signed up for 2 year contract which they won't let me out of) - and got it looked at in their shops. There was nothing that should have been doing that level of damage. One huge data blip was in the middle of the night when I was asleep; and the latest one was when I was driving, and not using the phone at all. So something is running in the background and sucking up data. And no one in EE can tell me what - 'data protection'.
EE have offered me additional monthyl data - for which, many thanks - but this is ridiculous.
Anyone from Nokia any thoughts ...???

Exactly the same here. I remember the day when it apprently went through 213MB of data. April fools day...... Apprently I am a fool for getting a Nokia cause I remember that day and all I was doing was staying at home playing games on pc.. Most I did with the phone was unplug it from the charger.
Might see what i can do legally about this with the australian ombudsman.
Optus did give me $50 off the bill and they're also getting reports of other people on Lumias getting random huge usage(said over the phone to me)

Turn off all possibilities to access data. I turn data connection off completely until I need it. See this for more info:

Look i've already done most of that, except leaving data off.... I may aswell have a dumb phone then.
I leave it on for facebook messages.... My phone syncs emails every 15mins and also everything is blocked in the background.... there is no way it's my fault that the phone just randomly downloads 213MB

I have exactly the same problem with the Lumia 820. Previously owned Nokia 6320 Explorer and Nokia C7, always left data connection on. Also now have to switch off data connection on Lumia. Had one incident where I was charged R148.00 for data usage in a period of 10 mins while driving and not using the phone!
In the past with my other two phones, avearge data usage for background programs was in the region of R1.00 per 24hrs!
Local contract provider unable to give me any reason other than to offer me a data package which I don't want. Have analysed usage for about six weeks now, and it makes no sense at all. Even the time spent online according to the detailed call analysis shows no correlation between time online and charge? This is driving me crazy. What use is a smartphone if you have to leave it off all the time??
For interest I have added to this comment my Excel Spreadsheet with the details. Any ideas????
