Re: Switching for 4G

On T-Mobile, I get up and wave the phone around like I'm hailing a taxi. If that does not work, I get in a real taxi and drive to a location that has 4G. Sometimes that is just a few blocks, Other times, it may be hundreds of miles.

Hi ashrafmaher4

Does your network provider support it and are you in a location where it's available?

Have you checked with your provider to see if they need to update your sim card?

Re: Switching for 4G

Another possibility is you may have a handset that does not have the 4G enabled yet, same as mine. Phones for countrys where 4G is not yet widely available may have 4G disabled. I have been told that an update to enable this will be issued when 4G is finally enabled for that country.

Re: Switching for 4G

CJlim is correct. when a handset is 4G enabled, it will display the highest connection speed possible for that handset of 2G/3G/4G in the Settings etc. Most likely it will be re-enabled in a future firmware update.

Re: Switching for 4G

I've been experiencing the same thing in Sweden were they sold a Norwegian / Swedish variant where 4G is disabled due to issues in Norway with 4G. Nokia has promised a fast fix (even if it's possible to fix it temporary with the ##...code) but even after almost three weeks nothing has happened. False advertisement :crying:

I fully understand your point but personally I don't mind not to have 4G temporarily, since it isn't yet available in my country anyway, then to have my phone freeze regularly due to 4G issues. I have been promised 4G update when it is available, so happy with that.

Re: Switching for 4G

As long as temporary is only temporary I could stand the waiting. I've been through other manufacturers promises since July this year regarding working updates for 4G ;-) not Nokias fault though..

Don't worry. I have confirmation directly from Nokia regarding this. Otherwise I'll be as annoyed as you. :smileyhappy:

Re: Switching for 4G

Any news? I also have a Lumia 820 with (it seems) locked 4G capabilities in the Netherlands. The biggest issue is that I am using this and other devices for testing of the capabilities of a 4G network.
