I have a nokia Lumia 710. I just upgraded to WP7.8.

There are currently a few issues/limitations with windows phone. First was bluetooth sharing, which was solved in the 7.8 update. Second issue is with USSD. It's really hard for prepaid users to keep track of thier account balance due to this.

Currently nokia is the only OEM who has managed to over come the bluetooth sharing issue. I still don't know why it wasn't added by microsoft as a part of their OS. 

And currently I'm having a lot of problem with USSD. I can't check my balance, I can't check the internet data left, it's really annoying.

I hope in the future we get an update which could make the dialer support USSD. Or maybe a third party app like Nokia's Bluetooth Share, which would show us a USSD menu.

Do you have a cheap Nokia dumb phone? When you need to do any USSD transaction just change the SIM to the dumb phone and execute it there then change back to your Lumia 710. I know it's not an ideal solution but it works.

That is not a solution. This is just stupid. I can't keep pulling my sim card out all day. 

I can't believe my cheap dumb local phone, has a feature which my 15000 rupees worth nokia phone doesn't... There should be a way to get this to work

this does not work on your version it works  for me on WP8. This has been put forward for suggestion so until then there is no other alternatives other than use another phone.

Finally I found the answer here for my question which nobody answered in the thread about WP7.8. It's disappointing that USSD hasn't been implemented even after so many requests and so many updates.

The suggestion about changing the SIM to another phone is not a solution. I am using Lumia 800 which uses micro-SIM, changing it to my other phone (which uses the normal SIM size) would require an adaptor and I can't be carrying it with me all the time. Besides, I am also using the rubber cover which came with the phone (it fits very well on the phone which makes the process of removing the SIM card more difficult).

USSD is not just used to check a prepaid phone account balance, but it is also used for those one-time-password generated by my bank for online transaction. It's really hard to accept that such basic feature can be left out and I have not seen any effort in bringing it into the current WP7.x phones. Whenever someone asks about USSD support in WP7.x, those who are involved in the development of it just ignored the question.

Ive already pointed out this issue has been already submitted to be fixed.This is a microsoft problem not nokias.

Even bluetooth share was microsoft's issue but nokia managed to solve it with an app. For these reasons I chose nokia over other manufacturers .

And I'm expecting something similar for USSD.

Yes appears so this is down to ms at the end of the day there is plenty of info and awareness of it on the web.
As ive said its working for me on my 920 but still seems to lack on 7.8
There is an app called emDIAL i think this works only for africa

I am using lumia 710 its problem is not working oprater code like
*212#,*147# service and can't check internet balance,and not seen Gujarati,Hindi website please solve it to lumia 710 thanking you
