Unable to update apps

Since yesterday, I have been facing a problem with my Nokia Lumia 710.

I'm getting notification on the marketplace tile for app updates but when I try to download the updates, they get downloaded instantly and the marketplace screen is shown which says "no downloads in progress".

In fact the apps don't get updated at all and the updates available show up in the marketplace again after a minute.

I had given my phone for speaker repairing in Nokia Care before four days. The phone was returned with Windows Phone 7.8 firmware which I'm loving a lot.

I was able to download updates for two days while having the 7.8 firmware. The above problem is being faced just since yesterday so I cannot blame the 7.8 firmware.

I can still download new apps without any problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

hi mate,

have you tried performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates)?

Will the soft reset delete any data or the connected accounts with my phone?
Also,
I tried reinstalling the apps thinking that the updated versions will be downloaded. To my disappointment, the updates crawled up again in marketplace. Aren't the app always of the latest version in the marketplace?

Should I try soft reset or is there any other option?

no it will not delete any personal data or accounts associated with the phone mate. you can always try removing the battery for say, ten minutes then replacing it and powering on again.

Did not work. Updates still showing up and not getting downloaded.

Should I try soft reset? It will just turn all the setting to default, right?

although drastic and you're not going to like it, you may have no option but to perform a hard reset (Settings > About > Reset your phone). in this case, you will lose all your personal data so please backup everything to PC and / or online storage first.

failing that, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

This is bad. I had spent hours downloading all the apps, games and maps when the phone was returned from Nokia Care. :smileysad:

Wish there was some way to backup apps.
Only 6 months of download history is available on windowsphone.com which sucks as well as I will have to manually install the primary apps.

Are you sure there is no other option? Like refreshing the live account which marketplace uses for downloading apps?

i don't in any way mean to offend or upset you, but perhaps if you cut down on the number of apps that will help you and your phone in the long term?

as far as i know, that is the only option possible, as at present, there is no way of manually refreshing the Marketplace / Store on Windows Phone 7/8 to check for updates manually. Sorry mate.

Before taking the plunge into the sad sea of reset, I tried a make-shift life boat.. :smileyvery-happy:

Uninstalled the apps for which updates were being displayed. Rebooted the phone. Installed those apps again after an hour. No updates being shown for them in the marketplace since the last 12 hours. Guess it got solved. :smileytongue:
