Volume goes down to zero after 35-40 minutes of working out

This is a problem I've had since windows phone 7.5 on my Samsung Focus. I thought it might be isolated to that phone but I have since had the same issue with windows phone 8 on a Nokia Lumia 920.

When I listen to music while working out, the volume on my earphones goes all the way down to zero after about 35-40 minutes of treadmill. Trying to bring the volume back up doesn't work as the volume immediately goes back down to zero. If I unplug the headphones I can bring the volume back up. Plugging the headphones back in will work for a few minutes and then it goes right back down to zero.

I thought it might be a headphone issue. I've tried 3 different sets of headphones including a Bluetooth headset all with the same results. The odd thing is that I can sit at my desk and listen to music for hours without any issues thru headphones. I've tried resetting the phone but that didn't work. I find it hard to believe that I am the only person experiencing this issue but searching on the Internet only brought up a few things, all having to do with an HTC phone with Mango. As far as I can tell from what I've read their problem magically went away one day.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

Help!!!!

Re: Volume goes down to zero after 35-40 minutes of working out

does it go down instantly? its possible that the movement of the headphone jack tricks the phone into thinking its being removed, therefore causing it to mute...

do you have the phone anywhere on you? you could be inadvertently decreasing the volume with it in your pocket...

one other option is that it could be a software flaw which when sensing movement, it is taking it as a command to decrease volume.

seen as it has happened to 2 different branded devices its hardly likely to be a hardware fault :smileyfrustrated:

Its the headphones.....

I had the same problem with the headphones that came with the phone. I put another pair in and it was okay. Put the others back in, same problem.

**bleep** really, only had them for a month and now in the bin.

not sure but some of the Nokia system app updates may fix the problem, there was one released just today for the Accessories settings, check them out here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082
