Does anyone know when is the release date for 7.8 update ??

Microsoft are now working on finishing Windows Phone 8. After that work will continue with Windows Phone 7.8. So I bet not even Microsoft knows when it will be released. We will all have to wait for the official announcement.

For now, it was said that there will be a new start screen.

And some new apps that doesn't require Windows Phone 8 hardware will probably be available for the Windows phone 7.5/7.8. I can be either right or wrong.

Apps written for WP8 will not be compatible with WP7.8.

I think its gonna take a long time, not before next year probably as MS recently started taking requests for added features to WP 7.8, which means its still far away from finished.

Hello @nahlekkerdan,

There is a good reason to expect it's just around a corner to come to us. For example in Finland if you buy a new Lumia 800, it comes with wp 7.8. So let's be patient!

Yeah, we have been waiting way too long for this update..... please do not make me switch to another phone brand Nokia!!!!

Guys... I received 7.8 update for my Lumia 800 today I was informed that the update is available when i visited Nokia Care for some other issue. When i asked them why my zune didnt show me any updates?, they told me that it is not available through Zune. But, it can be updated at the nearest Nokia Service Center. Try your luck. Am from India.. Not sure about other countries though.. !!

Few features which i found in this update was

i. Resizable tiles

ii. Bluetooth enabled for file sharing

iii. Squared tiles for notifications in Whatsapp and other apps, which were previously circles.

Havent explored completely ...

Don't know about the 800 but it is soon for the 900 on AT&T
