Hey Nokia, i just wanted to know the latest releasing date of WP 7.8 update. what's the official date of beginning it ? we have been hearing over the web 31st January as the global rollout date, is it true ?

Nokia has stated that the official release date will be sometime in early 2013. I would anticipate that the start of the update roll-out shouldn't be too far away, and be finished by the end of March.

what is the reason that Nokia or Microsoft can't/won't provide a firm date? Is it because there are variables that are not controlled by either, such as carrier tests, therefore you can't give an actual date? It doesn't bother me even though I'd like an actual date as well. I've accepted that neither Nokia or Microsoft will provide one, but I'd just like to know the reason why. I'm lead to believe that this is more to do with Microsoft than Nokia.

You pretty much nailed it on the head there mate. Nokia has to do a lot of testing on their own variants, and the operators too on their own custom variants. There are hundreds of product codes and this all takes time. Probably due to constraints, they are unable to release the firmware to all variants at exactly the same time. but it is coming mate, and it won't be long, that's all anybody can say.

Old lumias are being shipped with 7.8 preinstalled so the issue can not be the software. It's pathetic how this is being handled. That's my opinion as a customer.
