I recently swapped my SIM card from AT&T to Cable & Wireless (St. Lucia) for approx. 1 week with no problems. Upon return to the US, I re-inserted my AT&T card back and now I can't get the phone back online.. I tried rebooting many times to no avail. The phone is stuck in "Offline" mode. Has anyone had that problem? Hopefully I can get this resolved asap, otherwise this phone is going back to the store..
My new N8 is similarly stuck in offline mode and neither the Orange shop or Orange online can do anything about it. We have tried other, working sim cards, but the phone simply reverts to Offline as soon as we put my sim back in.
I have now been without a mobile for 2 days and, as Nokia are shut at the weekends, have no way of resolving this until Monday, when I am busy.
I think I will more than likely reject the phone because it would seem that the phone freezes up a lot and resetting it is fraught with problems over losing data and having to reinstll Ovi software.
I have now resolved this issue - it appears to be caused by swapping SIMs betwen phones. I did this with 2 sims and both had the same problem. When I used a new SIM only in one phone, the problem didn't occur.
Nokia could do well to look into this as lots of people swap SIMS between phones - not just thieves!
N8 stuck in offline mode. I have just swapped SIM cards and now the phone is stuck in offline mode. How the hell do I get iy back on line, Have restored the phone but still no good. Any ideas
I had the same. Sim was stuck, used a bit force and pulled out a simcard with scratches together with one of the contacts (small metal part). Now phone is in offline mode. So I think, your phone doesn't see the simcard anymore and that's the offline mode.
