i had the same problem, phone connected but suite on computer not connect to the phone. 

So i removed the connectivity cable from remove programs in control pannel and repaired nokia suite.  

When i reconnected the phone it synched, so much relief after wasting an hour.  Hope i dont need to do that every time i use it.
