Can anyone help please?? Nokia Ovi Suite said it was backing up before installing - in fact I couldn't load the new software without it. Can see the obscure backup file on my laptop. Have lost all my contacts and messages on my phone. Does anyone know how I can restore the backup file? Tried synch thru Suite but it had same info as my phone - not the backup details, which seems completely pointless! Help please - thanks!

Same here.. I have C7.. I updated to belle and lost all contacts and messages.. What sort of update is this...Suite took a backup.... Nokia is spelling disaster after disaster.. no wonder it is losing market...

Finally .... After many unsuccessful attempts... .Support software was failing earlier after instalation of OS.. Now it got installed. ..This was necessary to get data from backup file... Dunno why it was failing earlier and why it installed now... Finally restored my contacts and messages.... However i would have preferred if it had happened automatically and not manually...

I also had this problem, lost all my contacts and ALL messages, some of which contain important details. I'm sure its on the phone somewhere, unless NOKIA's update process included intentionally deleting them.

How can i access my data? I used the Nokia Software Updater from Beta Labs (because you guys STILL havent managed to write a simple version of Nokia Suite for the millions of Mac users out there, and nor could I update to Belle using the Nokia store, or directly from the handset... crazy btw...).

Also, using the Nokia Software Updater and watching the video at nokia.com/softwareupdate, I was assured I didn't need to do anything specific because nothing would be deleted. 

Very unimpressed after waiting MONTHS for Nokia to make the Belle update available in the Australian marketplace, to have had all of my important data misplaced by bad programming.

Need a solution, stat!

'ppened now. Go to tools on the top menu. Click on restore from the drop down menu. Then select the device and the date for which you require the data to be updated from.

This will surely do.

Just update and end up with all contacts, all message are gone. there is no click restore button. 

This is the most ridiculous update that i ever had it with Nokia N8!

the restore button is not clickable. where are the  files that store the contacts and messages?
