ive got my phone nokia n97 and before it the nokia E90 each time i try to upgrade the software on any of them using the suite it does the same exact problem .. 
for the E90 for example : it downloaded the software backed up my stuff then when about to install software it suddenly says connection to the phone was lost then connection resotred u may now continue you installation then i switched to my N97 which was working pretty good then suddenly the screen stopped responding so i tried to reinstall the software on it and i got the same thing it says : preparing to install then connection to the phone was lost then usb connection is active you can now continue with your installation i tried reinstalling the nokia suite hard resetting my phone and still nothing 
PLEASE help me solve my problem i dont know what is wrong with the phone but i really need to fix it ASAP

First, make sure you are using the latest version of the Nokia Suite . When you get the 'connection restored' message wait for 3-4 minutes and see if the process contineous on its own. Do not touch the phone or click any tab on the PC.. just wait .. See what happens ..

well it asks me to say next to continue the process see the attachment its a printscreen from what i get and i already do have the latest version of the pc suite i tried also to leave it as  u asked for 10 mins and it did nothing

yes i did right now and it stops at this screen when i already have connected my phone in pc suite mode and still i hit retry and it still asks me to connect my phone  if i open my nokia pc suite it recognizes my phone but that nsu doesnt recognize it

Something more I can suggest is Re-boot both PC and Phone and try again .. Also disable any Firewalls / Anti Virus running on the PC before starting the update process ..

still nothing i disabled my antivirus and my firewall rebooted both my pc and phone but still nothing .

Not sure even Nokia Care would be able to help you out..but try your luck ..No harm in that ..

well at least i need to find a way to download the software on the phone memory then install it through the phone itself without the pc involved in anything except copying the software to it is there a way to do that ?

No..Thats not possible..but just saw one old thread ..and you may try the solution mentioned there in..

First back up your data thru' Nokia Suite..Then disconnect the phone and Soft Reset it. (Dial *#7370# followed by 12345 (Default code unless changed by you) when prompted. This will erase all data from the phone memory. Now connect the phone again and try the update ...If you are successfull, restore the data from the Back-up which was taken separately and not the one which automatically does it before the update ..

i actually did a hard reset on it and deleted everything to see if the touch screen problem will be resolved but still nothing lol i guess a new mobile is the solution

Sorry..Can't be of help any more .. and YES..a Good idea to get a NEW phone..Why not a Lumia ???

thing is ive tried the android software i mean its pretty much more reliable than the symbian software and windows mobile isnt really my type , i cant go with nokia anymore ive had enough trouble i mean ive got nokia phones all the way and ive always had these bugs for symbian software so enough symbian im going for android now probably htc one x or something thx for ur help my friend

i am having lots of issues trying to download maps and although i have older phone 5230 i get message saying to install memory card  which is already in the phone,or to connect phone which it is I have also tried uninstall and reinstall, no luck there either,i have reset phone to factory reset ,again no luck in but best result i have had is the download going halfway and then stopping.I have tried to other downloads from nokia suite but all get the same problems Does anyone no what is going on

 my 5230 won,t download nokia maps. Error message says file is missing. Anyone got any idea how i find out what the missing file is and how i restore it. According to nokia suite though i have all the latest ypdates on my phone

My local computer repair shop suggested Turn of  firewall while in nokia suite and then try to download I did and it worked but dont forget to turn back on again My system is windows 7 

Hope this works for all who are having problems with  nokia suite it did for me
