Hi,
I reset my phone yesterday because even though i had about 100 messages it deleted all. So did the whole backup and reset routine.. I had just finished installing 3 or 4 apps like opera mini, games, and i was downloading a puzzle from ovi store wen it suddenly un installed everything from phone. Not just that, it deleted all files from my 8 GB Memory card all of this wen i have 6 GB free. And 60mb of phone memory free.
Whats going on. Please help.

I still need help.. I can't afford a new phone.. this ones only a year old.
Does having an 8 GB memory card create problem?

Memory card size does not seem to be the problem because your phone can take upto 16 GB Memory card ...Format the MC and then see if the problem persists ..

I still dont know why its acting up.
I have been using my phone to connect thru PC, do think thats the problem? What shud I do?

Bit confusing .. You mentioned that 'its working fine now'  ..and the sentences below that are contradictory .. Or is there some new problem that you are facing ?

If problem remains then you may try Resetting the phone by dialing *#7370# followed by 12345 ( default code unless changed by you)  when prompted. This will Format (wipe all data) the phone memory too..and will bring the phone back to Out-of-Box state.

Sorry for confusion.
I meant that when I format MC and reset my phone it works fine, for a week or two. Then messages stops opening, photo editor stops working, I cant open email or image and phone lags even though most of my internal and MC memory is free. Is there a solution to that problem? I was wondering if connecting thru it to Pal Talk messager on pc could be causing problem?

I really like my phone, I wish it wud always be good. Please help!

Are you using a Good quality / reputed make MC ? Also, what Class ? Use Class 4 or 6 MC if you are not ...

...also, if you still get the problem of phone shutting down when you start the Firmware re-install..try that without the MC. Else, get the device checked at Nokia Care ..

My sister bought it for me and I think she got best available. How can one tell if its good quality MC or not? I dont even know what class 6 or 4 is. Please explain further..

Refer THIS for the Memory Card and Class details ..Good quality means from reputed Manufacturers..SanDisc, Kingstone and Transcend to name a few..

I took out my MC checked. It says 'Nokia HC'. I hope thats good?

and please could you confirm whether connecting ur mobile comeation to PC can cause problem? I connect with my laptop and use messenger with phone connection.

Oh and I forgot to mention my MC is Class 6 and made in Taiwan. Do you think thats the problem?

The MC seems to be Fine.. and there should not be any issues by connecting the phone to PC also but not sure about the Messenger thing..  Have you checked whether the latest Firmware is installed ? Check thru' Nokia Suite.. If update is available go for it, else, re-install the existing one. (Option available as seen in the attachment) .. Also, what Reset you have tried ? Is it Factory reset or the Soft (*#7370#) reset ?

Hello,
I tried connecting to pc it was doing fine i cud even connect with blue tooth but I got busy so I couldn't check for updates. When i tried connecting again my phone just wont connect not with blue tooth or data cable. Gives error 'blue tooth peripheral device does not exist' plz help.

Connectivity problem solved. My laptop had wrong country code. There is an update available but its 47.9 mb. Should I go for it?

and to answer your question I did the 7370 reset. Is it bad for phone if u do it too often.. I've noticed that i've been coming here for similar problem and same solution, almost always!

I have all the essential updates already the one I thought was for my phone is actually pc suite update. Sorry for confusion again. Point is all the trouble is occuring with latest update installed. I've noticed my messages and photos get corrupted first and the rest of the phone follows. Already couple of common SMS have stopped opening and image files corrupted, phone's touch response is lagging. Can u help?

First of all..having to do the Reset too often should not affect the phone but on the other hand should not be necessary too. Re-install the latest update and see if there is change in the behaviour. Else, you may need to visit Nokia care and get it inspected. A Firmware flash thru' them may be worth going for.

BTW, once you Reset the phone have you observed whether re-installing certain application is causing the issue ? Also use the phone without the Memory Card for a few days and see. If it works fine check with anothe MC as you have formatted the existing one already but may be still giving some issues.

Well, touch response has always been slow. At first, other problems occurred wen I downloaded games as heavy as 8 mb. But now its giving trouble, i dunno, out of goodness of its mechanical little heart? I cant think of reason but i'll try ur advice..
