I've been using a Nokia 5800 since January. I usually listen to a lot of music on it but not since my last firmware upgrade (the lastest for the product). When i recently tried to get to my music, it had apparently all disappeared. Only the music that the phone came loaded with & a few random albums of mine showed up. I refreshed the library & even check in the File Manager but they're actually gone.
The weirdest part is that the memory hasn't been freedup though. My memory card (8gb) shows only 2.5gb free while there should be some 5+gb free right now if my music is deleted.
If this is similar to what happens with usb pendrives & other memory cards, formatting it once usually solves the problem, but will my phone be stable after i try that? is it safe? should i just hand over the phone to a Nokia Care Centre (its still under warranty)?

nope, no resets, no fooling around... just the firmware update!
Firmware update likely caused it.................
Did you do a backup first?

I'd backed up only the essentials viz. contacts, calendar, messages which are on my phone memory. I still don't know how all this could affect my card.
But, can anyone tell me if formatting the card myself will be safe? will i be able to use my phone with a formatted card?
