I just received my 808 replaced by Nokia for the 3G bug issue. Now I have been noticing that annoying Connection Failed connection unavailable message every few seconds. Turned the positioning methods OFF and the frequency of the error message goes away but it still pops up every few minutes. I did a hard reset, removed the memory card where most of my apps are installed and it still gives me that same error. Ordered a new SIM to see if that makes any difference - none - Still same error message. That message is so annoying. Anyone have any other ideas that I could try ? Privacy mode is OFF also.

I resolved my issue by entering a username and password for the data connection.
Settings -> Connectivity -> Settings -> Network Destinations -> Internet -> (Select your Operator's APN)
Enter whatever you can get from your operator, or maybe just try some gibberish. Mine was empty so I just looked up the settings from my mobile operator.
For some reason it'd never mattered before (and it hasn't been an issue on any other phone I've used, Nokia or otherwise), but the 808 seems to have gotten a bit picky after being updated to the latest firmware (113.010.1507).

Have you assigned a data connection preference for browser and other apps requiring data ?
