I received my 808 a few days ago and I'm wondering about the shutter button. On my N8 the button has two clear stages that give feedback with a click when pressed: focus and actually taking the picture when pressing further down.
On my 808 there is the focus stage, where the button also clicks. But there's no second click when pressing further down. Has anyone else experienced this or is the button on the 808 desigend that way on purpose?
Also the Screen Lock Button seems pretty "loose". It works well (it's not as springy as on the N8) but you can hear it move when you shake the phone. Also a little weird for such a high end device ...

On mine there is a two stage press like on my N8. The screen lock button is also quite tight, again similar to my old N8. I suggest that yours has a problem.

There is distinctive click on the shutter half-press on my 808, but after that the button feels mushy and I cannot tell when the picture is actually taken. It should be the other way around; easy focusing and click to release. But with my current TPU gel case it doesn't matter as it has no opening for the shutter button.
Lock button feels springy and it has firm feel in it.
Guess your lock button is not connected to the actual switch inside the body. Without a doubt it's a fault that is covered by warranty.

Thanks, that's exactly what I meant with the shutter button. I too think this is quite irritating when acutally taking the photo. I asked Damian Dinning on Twitter and got two responses:

The first one indicates that this is intended and not a production fault . But I'm not quite sure what he means with his second answer ("every device has to be optimised afresh").
As for the lock button: I'm not sure if I described this right. It works as intended and also springs back to it's default position after pulling it down - so the switch must be connected to the mechanism inside the body. I just wish it was a little firmer (like on the N8). Looks like the spring is not as tight as on the N8. Well, I guess, I'm being picky here ... ![]()
I also tested both buttons on a second unit. The shutter button there was even squisher, the lock button a tad firmer.

Mine still has the two stage press, it's just that the 2nd stage doesn't give feedback with a distinct click.
Yes, that's the same here. It's annoying. If there was only one confirmation click I'd rather it was on the 2nd stage when actuallytaking the picture rather than the half press to focus.
Not a good design IMO.

And becuause there's no positive feedback for the taking of the picture I tend to press the button too hard and get a lot more pics with camera shake.
