Yes it is... It feels so much like a big step backward... I suggest Nokia has an option to go back to symbian anna which is classy and very nice

Agree
On the Nokia E6 Belle upgrade.
There are some nice new features in the updated but I am really disappointed that Belle removed some of the features that are business like such as the event window:
The old event windows showed missed calls, calendar, and messages (including date and time of each event under it) and gave best feature of keeping or deleting and event. If I did not delete the event, then the for example the missed event will remain until I action it. This is not the case now, they just despair and I have to go manually check the missed calls to attend to people. Now, the missed call are just like any other phone, it shows you once on the screen and disappears. The Calendar is also downgraded to behave in the same way. Messages are also not events. They do not list in the event windows as they did in the past. Now we just get a total unread messaged and when you click on it you just go to the inbox in a conversation format.
The calendar notes were by default with the an alarm option “ON.” Now, I have to turn the alarm for each and every one and set the time. There is no default option to have all calendar events with the Alarm ON. The version prior to belle had the Alarm always on which made more sense.
The profile status was clear on every screen. I had to add the profile to one of the screens to see it and now I have to flip to the right screen to find it to know the status.
There even a lot less ringtones option in this version then the previous.
The home screen does not even take you home. It switches to the previous screen you were on and the menu.
There is not option to shrink the clock as it takes up most of the screen and leaves you with 4 icons. If add the profile alone takes to icon places now.
An upgrade should not take way key features and functions. This is what you have done today for the sake of the look. You have downgraded the business features of this phone and made it like and behave like any other phone. You have not added anything that makes this a wow. Please let me know how I can go back to the old version prior to belle.

I don't know if this has something to do with Belle or if it's normal for my phone and I didn't discovered this behavior with Anna:
Tonight my N8 did a restart totally on it's own. Everything (mobile data, Wifi, ...) was deactivated, phone was in battery safe mode. I only heard the startup melody and a few seconds later the notification beep for the dialogue "Do you want to disable battery safe mode". It reminds me a little bit of an old problem I had pre-Anna (/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-N8-quot-![]()
Someone else discovered this?
PS: As my phone isn't English I don't know the exact message but I think you know what I mean.

Another thing which I miss in Belle is that I can no longer add a Bookmark on a home screen. This used to be possible, and when activated, would open the browser at that bookmark.
Does anyone know how to achieve that in Belle.

adding to the problems mr.joi c just discussed there are also more problems with this belle like flash videos which were playing smoothly on anna and even on symbian^3 it stopped playing, when i got a call or called sum1 a good background home screen showed on previous version but now its ugly black display comes , apps available for previous version are all gone and very less apps are remaining for my c 7 , there was a game available though boring but now it has only angry birds which is only playable wiith another nfc device. theme effect has completely out bursted only thing changing themes does a bit of change on look of apps . I dont understand why nokia tries such experiments which are a comlete failure even when i called customer care they told that yes there are some issue with belle nd we are working on it i dont understand why nokia released an update if it was still under development.

I cannot for the life of me recognise the Belle improvements.
- Experience is vastly improved=> can you name some of the improvements?
- more versatile: examples?
- quicker=> No noticable difference as far as I can tell.
- modern=> you mean ugly
- feature filled=> What features? I only miss features I had with Anna
(eye candy isn't a feature in my opinion)- functional=> How is removing features functional?
My experience:
- Widgets are bigger and clunky and cannot be configured. I have tried everything, but
I cannot make my homescreens look as nice and neat as I had them with Anna.
Moreover, I need MORE homescreens for the same info.- The highly functional date/clock/profile widget I enjoyed in Anna is no longer available.
Now all I get is a BIG ugly clock and an ugly grey profile widget that does not show self-
created profiles (I created an Outdoor profile, because the Anna standard one is no
longer there!)- Ugly text under the shortcut icons that cannot be removed (a choice would have been
nice)- Widget online/offline toggle is no longer available.
- I can only access 'Open applications' by long pressing the menu button. I liked the
menu option better. I do not want to wear out my menu button or have the bottom of my
phone drop off. I love my N8 and do not want to lose it anytime soon. Forcing me to use
hardware buttons when there perfectly fine menu options in Anna is just plain annoying.- I can no longer create folders within folders. (Yes I liked that feature!)
- I can no longer switch homescreens by clicking on the software button on the bottom
middle of the screen. (Yes, I used that a lot)- I can no longer turn on battery saving by clicking on the battery. Now I have to either
press the power button or dive into the menu.- I liked the notification widget much better than that eyecandy slide down notification bar.
- I can no longer access the connectivity menu via the homescreen. I need to go to
menu/settings/connectivity.- With Anna, connection settings were easier. When on the road, my 3G connection was
automatically selected and whenever I was within range of a known WiFi connection,
that connection was automatically selected. With Belle I have to set the internet
connection to ask what connection I want. The only other option is to hardcode either
3G or a specific WiFi network. If that selected connection is not available, the
connection fails. So now when I access the internet I first have to select the desired
accesspoint. How's that an improvement?I do not have more RAM available than I had before (80MB-90MB) and my phone does not run smoother/faster than under Anna (which was just as smooth/fast on my phone, I had no complaints!). And yes my phone was empty when I upgraded. Before I upgraded I synchronised my contacts/messages/photo's and uninstalled all apps I had installed and then performed a soft reset. The phone was empty, like I just got it from the store. I currently do not use a microSD and install all apps on the mass storage (not on C
.
I am the kind of person that buys and uses the phone that I like and that gives me the functionality that I need. I do not feel any need to impress my friends. If they don't like my phone, tough! I am the one using it, so I am the only one who has to like it. All this added Eye Candy is therefore useless to me. Couldn't they just have added the eye candy without removing the handy Anna features? Then everybody would have been happy.
Someone please tell me what it is that I am, judging by your comments, obviously missing!!! Let me know what I have overlooked, because I love Nokia and I love Symbian and I want to love Belle, but I just cannot. :-(

I found something in this forum that helped me but I can't find it again. Problem is: My Phone isn't English so I don't know exactly how the menu items are called:
Go to Menu>Settings>Connectivity>~Admin Settings (not the normal Settings)>Mobile Data Connection>Access Point --> Manually type in "internet" (without ").
If you now go to Menu>Settings>Connectivity>Settings>Access Points there should be at least two access points for "internet": Your Wifi and your 3G/3.5G

Belle is fine for me - phone handles better - touch responsiveness is better - I find a lot of clutter with Anna has been repalced with simpler command structure (once you have picked it up). Definitely do not want to go back to Anna.

So is it that Nokia is rubbing off N8 users?
Recently came to know that Nokia plans to release a "service pack" for Belle, with a whole new status bar (surprise, surprise!) and major changes including smaller widgets... what they did to N8 users is nothing short of sticking it up... excuse my french.
so N8 users, and C7 users will NOT be receiving "service pack" for Belle.. which means they have to put up with half baked OS, or, go back to a more productive OS by name "anna".
If Nokia had no plans to support "feature pack" for belle on N8, Why did nokia push Belle on old devices in first place?

Could you give me some pretty explicit details on how you achieve this with Anna on an N8? I've almost worn a groove in my display trying to find EXACTLY where I have to start dragging, where I have to stop, the precise direction my finger has to travel, and the exact amount of pressure to apply, the speed at which I have to drag...

I too am totally disappointed with my E6 upgrade of Belle. Visited Nokia Care but to no avail. It is become a much cheaper completely different phone. Very upset with nokia not allowing a downgrade option.

The notification bar isn't featured an Anna. Only on Belle.

Well, in Anna, there's a bar at the top, you just cannot drag it, You can click the right-hand end, and that takes you to a submenu of relevant choices. This is the easiest way to the "Connectivity" menu.
Just in case anyone else is wondering, like I was.
