And because there is no auto correction for the qwerty keyboard, whatever mistake you make will be added to the custom personal dictionary. Right now there is no way to edit this dictionary.
I would like that nokia put back the botton menu on the new kyboard and keypad so to have again the possybility to change language and chouse keyboard or keypad easily.
Keypad has to be faster at list like the old one otherwise better come back.
And the portrait keyboard doesn't work properly with some app if there is the t9 option.
Please correct the bugs thank you.
Have a look at this resource:
Symbian specialist until 31/01/2013 with interests in Maemo & MeeGo but an aversion to Windows!
Nokia...or should I say Microsoft is doin this bad things to Belle just to make us change and hopefully to Windows Phone one day... Sad but true...
I think my 808 is very good but I miss my old N8 were everyhting was so good...dont know if it was Anna or Belle witout FP1...I have not FP2 on my 808 when the FP1 made Belle much worse than without any FP.
Please just give us back the old T9 alphanumeric keyboard. Text input is really important. If something as basic as text input becomes so annoying, what's the point of holding on to a Nokia phone??!?!??!
I LOVED THE OLD T9 KEYBOARD.
IT WAS WHY I WAS LOYAL TO NOKIA.
Stuff I hate about this new T9 keyboard:
- Dedicated smiley button: I DO NOT NEED THIS TAKING UP SCREEN SPACE
- Predictive text appearing on top instead of just pressing the # key to scroll through
- Does not detect words which are hyphenated: "I'm" and "You're" are SO COMMONLY USED!!!
Please, just give us an option to use the OLD T9 KEYBOARD.
It will really make a lot of Nokia customers happy!!!
I too much prefer the old t9 alphanumeric keypad. I do not like being given suggestions for what my word COULD be if I were to keep typing, I liked the cycling through using the * key of letters I had pressed.
Not being able to put symbols into words is irritating as if i'm typing an email address it won't put in the @ symbol anymore without having to press space insert the symbol and then navigate back to remove the space.
Also the case sensitivity is downright ludicrous.
I got my 700 specifically becasue of the nokia t9 dictionary as I have been a loyal nokia customer for many years and had been given a sony ericson to get me into the 'smartphone' era.
This update has removed the only benefit I saw from getting a symbian over an android, I could deal with reduced applications support etc as long as I could send texts the way I feel all phones should.
With no t9 dictionary why subject myself to reduced app support where I can use an identical dictionary type and get an app market that has a lot more to offer?
Please at least bring it back as an option or I can't see myself using a nokia again in the future which saddens me.
Even worse for Germans:
1) It is part of the German language to combine two words into one. For example, we write:
"Hauptbahnhof" (=central station) as one word instead of "Haupt Bahnhof" as two words. We do that we everything "Autoreifen" (=car wheel) instead of "Auto Reifen", "Nackenstütze" instead of "Nacken Stütze", etc.
Not combining them is incorrect in German.
But unfortunately, the T9 dictionary is not that big to have all these combined words, which is quite natural, because you can nearly combine all nouns and also some verbs, etc. So in the normal (old) T9, you would write "Nacken", then press the right key and then type "stütze". But this is not possible anymore. There is no normal way to type "Nackenstütze" with the new T9 other than adding it to the dictionary as a new word, which basically makes the T9 useless as there a millions of millions of possibilites to combine nouns. There is no dictionary anywhere that would hold all the combined nouns in German language, which actually would - mathematically seen - be nearly impossible.
2) In German language we write nouns in upper case. So we write "Parlament", "Präsident", "Militär", etc.
So, if you write m-i-l-i-t-ä-r for "Militär" the "super intelligent" (attention: irony) new T9 won't get you "Militär", because the T9 acts as a teacher now. You only get "Militär" if you start the first letter in uppercase, which adds another unnecessary keystroke: shift-m-i-l-i-t-ä-r. Thank you Nokia for training German du** as*** to write correct German finally. No way to ever write "militär", except if you - yesss! - add it as a new word to the dictionary.
First time with Nokia I really feel that I want to +#+234#fa!!!§=$ the dam* developers of Nokia.
If there is no change back within the next to months (there is no way to downgrade to the prior firmware), I will sue Nokia for making my new phone unusable for me. We have good consumer protection here in Austria. The laws here will definitely will see this change as a defection of my phone (no matter what Nokia says in their terms and conditions) and will make Nokia repair my phone or cash back.
+++ I think Nokia lost a loyal customer (PS: already spoke with the customer support and they say this is the way the new T9 ist meant to work and - besides - were really unfriendly). +++
Agree 200%, i'm an 808 owner, roll back to T9 !! Some applicatin use it (such as VIBER), so i think T9 is already in phone but not enable for SMS / "Whats app" writing.

The alphanumeric keyboard really has to be improved. I have the following problems:
1) It does not recognize words with apostrophes, like you've, you're (already mentioned before).
2) The word suggestions are case sensitive. This means that if I want to input England as a word, I have to press Shift first and only then I can input the word with it being recognized (in the middle of a sentence). If I do not press shift, it does not recognize that I am trying to input "England" (big issue for German writing people as mentioned above)
Besides that, I like it. Nokia, please give us a last software update that fixes those issues.
Cell Phone: Nokia 701
OS: Symbian Belle Feature Pack 2
Nokia has removed T9 Dictonary option while typing
This is really bad thing for Quick Typers, apart from this option(T9 dictonary) everything in Belle FP2 is a fantastic. I Really loved its overall improvements.
Nokia should reconsider to fix this option in Belle FP2...
T9 Dictonary was relly good option for Nokia Cell Phones and Its Operating Systems.
Thanks to Nokia.

T9 (real function) is available when i write / change my whats app status. For write 2 words, T9 is available, but isn't for write sms... Why this ? Nokia, what are you doing ? No support for Symbian = make it more worst than Windows phone ? Do you know if exist some mod / firmware that enable it on my 808 ?
