ok..... so i have a Uk version Nokia 5800 (red colour), if that matters.
I have recently updated to the pozy 11.0..... something firmware version, still waiting for 22.0... version ¬¬
I need to do a factory restore , thus wiping my whole phone back to when i first recieved it? as i just want to start again without annoying files and programs on it atm, and i still have an issue with the expired certificates....
RAAA yes im a bit frustrated with these issues right now, as it seems nokia have released a rather brilliant phone but they havnt actually tested it before they pressed the big red mass produce button.
So what im asking, is there any way other that the "secret" codes that i've seen everywhere to wipre my phone memory clean, i have also tried re-installing the latest firmware, but again this just seems to overwrite itself and not actually touch the files and programs.... all it changes is the date and time
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Chivsky

try this
Exclusive Method:
=============
people you need signed applications(nokia 5800 compatible Appz)
1) Make your phone memory backup data using nokia pc suit 7.1(very important)
2) After that remove your Micro sd card form mobile..
3) Remove your SIM card also(very important)
4) press *#7370# and unlock code to format your phone memory(yap.. this is safe default is 12345)
5) You will lose all your important date with this action...so make a backup of your phone memory
6) Now nokia 5800 xm will reboot.....wait for a minute....
7) Then select your country region as "Hong Kong"
Cool Set the current time......(set your phone to offline mode)_
9) Now you can put that Micro sd card ......
10) And don;t insert that SIm card right now...just wait....and try to install any supported singed application (E.G-nokia handwriting calculator)
11) And Volla...u may install any singed application ......
12) After that just install your Sim Card.....
Hope this will make nokia 5800xm owners happy........

Red button - Green Button - Camera Button as you power on. Keep holding until after you see the hands shaking on screen.
If you can....ack up before you do this!

It is for chivksy or anyone who needs to do a hard reset.
SIM card in and power up from the off position with all three buttons held until you see the hands.
Back-up everything you can before you do this.

hi there i have a nokia 5800 (xpressmusic) and couldnt restore factory settings using each tip so i used all of them together.
1-enter *#7370# on the main page it will ask if you want to restore select yes
2- then enter "default" code 12345 for the lock code
it restarted and was done
when i did these seperately or i different way it never worked for me

I did the buttons thing and it worked
now my memory card asks for password and I never used one
I used card USB device and even tried to format it on my computer it only lags like hell once I insert the card into it
I read some other peoples discussions and it seems hopeless to get the data but formatting?
If anyone can help even to format it I would appeciate it.
