Format 5500. Unknown lock code.

Hi,

My 5500 is driving me up the wall since the past few days. Its become very very slow and the phone flash memory seems to be fully occupied for some reason. I decided to uninstall a few apps and some of them fail to uninstall. I decided to format the phone and the memory.

I am unable to format the phone using the *#7370# code as it keeps asking for some lock code. Heaven knows when and where I ever set a lock code on the phone. In fact I realised that it can go upto 10 digits long and there is no way I can now figure out what the code is. I tried 0s and 1s and this doesnt seems to work.

I tried the (call + 3 + *) combo and this formatted the phone, tho I am still unable to format the memory as it says some application is using the memory card. Now even after this format, I am unable to use the *# code and it keeps asking me for the pass code.

What to I do?

Regards,
Prashanth

Hi herculesksp

If you input *#7370# it can ask you to input lock code which is 12345 (Nokia default) followed by YES.:smileysad:

If I've helped in any way, a click upon the white kudos star would always be appreciated.

Beautiful. That worked. Thanks a million.

Would you by chance also happen to know how I can format my memory card without the phone detecting it and somehow locking it from being formatted immediately upon a restart?

Hi herculesksp

I would suggest formatting in a card reader on PC if available.:smileysad:
