Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

Hi guys,

I have noticed that when i uninstall an application and reinstall it the settings are saved.  But i want the application to fully uninstall, without leaving any files. How can this be made possible? Using n8.

Thanks

@Thewonderer

Next time it becomes necessary to "hard reset" N8 I'll bear this in mind as a pretty regular occurrence for me; however whilst not comparing like with like irrespective of hard reset or firmware re-flash, it is impossible to remove trace of first registered user of OVI Store on N8 as you always get prompt to confirm "User name"!

Re: Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

First thanks for ur reply. But how come ovi store and installed application related? Ovi store just downloads the app and then its all up to phone isn't it?

When i connect my n8 using mass storage then i find some files of uninstalled applications on some folder. How is this possible? Shouldn't it uninstall and delete all the related files?

Re: Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

If you are using something like Xplore symbian you may see some files associated with a deleted application, if you delete these files it should do no harm, but then again leaving them won't either and you don't run the risk of deleting something that may adversely affect your phone. Some QT based apps install QT as well as the app itself, and so that may be left behind as well ? Doing a hard reset would clear everything, but it's not somrthing I'd recommend if the phone is working ok, I'd simply ignore them and get on with enjoying the phone :smileyhappy:

Re: Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

I dont know if the phone is working fine. till now i havent done any hard reset.

Althouth i see some color dots (they change color on different viewing angle)on my screen as follows:

.  .  .  .  .  .  .

.  .  .  .  .  .  .

.  .  .  .  .  .  .

all over the screen. Is this normal?

Lately the phone is more slower than normal. When i open photo browser and zoom into a photo then it take around 5-6 secs to get cleared. while on other photos it just does not. Plus i have made a folder in menu for games. there are about 12 games in there. It takes the folder 10 secs to fully load. same with the application folder + the scrolling is not much smooth until u scroll whole folder.

I have cleared all cache, cookies and history from browser.. want to hear ur meaning :/

Re: Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

If the phone is slowing down and you have created as much space as possible by clearing cache and removing apps, a reset may be your solution, but it will take a while to restore your data and apps if you do one !

Re: Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

but the reset is not recommended by nokia is it? btw just for info will u lose ur warranty by doind reset?

I have planned to visit NCP after two weeks(my exam is running), its 2 hours away from where i live... i'll go there and ask for more info. My HDMI cap is also broken and i havent used it for even 20 times...

BTW what about the screen?

Re: Fully Uninstalling an Application On N8

No doing a reset will not affect your warranty in any way, it's been a feature on Nokia phones for years. Worth trying it as it may solve your problem and avoid the visit to Nokia Care, just follow instructions in link (*#7370# reset doesn't cause the same problems as 3 finger salute !)

Good Luck
