Hi

I have had this phone approx 2 weeks, the phone gets very hot  periodically throughout this time, i would say a about six times, the phone is not on charge when this happens or in use, it is in my top shirt pocket and i feel the heat coming threw, very hot ,it lasts for about a hour then cools, is this normal, also when on the phone my ear presses on the phone as you do,and it  presses against the hold button can this be deactivated.

It is normal for those smartphones to get hot during the use or while they are charging. But in your case you had better take your N8 to a local nokia care point and let the experts there check it.

Sounds llke a defective battery.

It also depends how many processes are running on the phone, mine gets hot during navigation, which wirks the processor hard, all 'computers' get hotter when working hard !

Carman is right. When I used GPS navigation and put place the phone in my top shirt pocket, the phone gets hot. Even hotter than during charging. I am sure that is normal.

Hi there is nothing running on the phone when it gets hot,its on standby waiting for next call to come in. Funnily enough when phone is on charge there is know heat whatsoever

Ps phone is going back to supplier iam having reception proplems again
