Welcome to the forum!
Not quite clear whether misunderstanding over "3 finger" as using Menu, Camera & Volume down whilst powering on doesn't require code input.

It is difficult to use the menu when my touch-screen is permanently frozen. It does not work to press buttons at all. So what is wrong then?

Welcome to the forum!
Hold down power button for 8 seconds until 3 vibrations felt and then try to power on. This achieves same result as removing battery if this was feasible!

Hey guys i am having a lot of problems with my Nokia N8, everytime i try to open a video from the gallery (even the ones i have recorded) it tries to open them, but inmediately after, it takes me back to the home screen, i already tried to restore to factory default, reinstalled firmware and it does not work! Please help me!

where are you saving the video ? Hope it's to E mass memory. Sounds like a memory issue on the phone, try clearing some stuff off of C drive nad clearing your privacy data in the browser, if that doesn't help, try a *#7370# reset and if no improvement, visit a Nokia Care point !
Good Luck

Some days ago I also occurred same problem that my Nokia phone
become unstable & restarted often...I don't want to repeat the procedure
again for reset your Nokia N8 but I want to share some topics that I never
found on internet while I was in problem & many articles found that after
resetting Mobile can't possible to upload Nokia Ovi store & Ovi maps...
But I found genuine way to restore all software as like branded one....
First hard reset your nokia phone then activate your net connection &
go for Menu, Applications, Software update option & it will automatically
install Ovi store software {with updated} & for nokia ovi maps you need to
connect your phone to pc suite & download it... If you having any problem
with nokia n8 feel free to contact me on my facebook id -

Do you mean after trying the 3 Finger Hard reset?
How old is the phone and is it still in warranty? If so don't try to fix it yourself.
Is it possible the battery is completely drained? Do you see the charge light by the USB port when power is plugged in?
If so leave it charging for a couple of hours and try again, normal start first, then reset if no luck.
If at all possible take it to a Nokia Care Centre for repair.
If that isn't possible you could try removing the battery, clean terminals and replace, google for youtube demo.
Note: you will need to buy the correct tool.
You could also try buying a new battery.
But to repeat, BEST option is Nokia Care.

Hello i understand this tread is bit old.
But the last few days i have not been able to send sms from my home.
But when im working. (Driving around in nearby town) I could send sms.
Ofc i have been able to send sms before, and my wife with same sim company can send. I also tested my sim in her phone and i could send. So i knew it was the phone.
So searched and was ready to reset my N8 and reading here.
But.. i folowed sugestions here, and simply started with the long hold on off button. Tho im not 100% sure that was the fiks, it does work now
But i also first connected to PC and made safty copy of the contens. Tho i dont think that should do any fiks.
So i think the longhold on off button did the fiks.
That meens, like few other says. Reset is last try, and hard reset is absolutly last resort.
Try other tings like long hold on off button first.
Im glad i did, coz that all i needed to do.

Depressing power button for 8 seconds until 3 vibrations felt is synonymous with pulling the battery if that was feasible upon N8 and should always be tried first if process failing to respond.
If I've helped in any way, a click upon the white kudos star would always be appreciated.

You should not use the "three finger" reset (pressing volume down + camera key + menu key and pressing power button) to hard reset the Nokia N8-00 device. Doing this will delete some applications (Ovi Store, Ovi Maps, some preinstalled widgets) which cannot be restored.
If the device needs to be reset, try the following methods instead of the "three finger" reset:
- Press down the power button for 8 seconds.
- Restore the factory settings by selecting Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Restore.
The "three finger" reset should be used only as a last resort if the device cannot be booted up in any other way.
If successful, the device can be used after the reset but some of the applications are missing. The device needs to be taken to a Nokia Care point for reflashing to get the original applications back in the device.

After hard reset, maps and all the other apps which are installed to phone and mass memory will be deleted completely , but you can download maps app using software update or Nokia store.
If possible, backup important data and reinstall the phone software using Nokia suite.
Reinstalling makes the phone as bought new but apps installed to mass memory will be deleted in this case too.
