Hi I have read a number of Services providers have disabled this function on the N95 handset to stop people using it instead of using there service providers network. The menu item is there but no where is there any instructions on how to setup either in the manual or on the phone help setup - Has anyone successfully used this function ?

Hi,
I've not used the internet phone function but I have installed "Fring" http://www.fring.com/download/ which allows you to use skype, msn and other providers via wireless internet rather than the mobile phone network. It is very simple to use. I've used the chat but not the calls as yet.

You can get the function by changing the product code of your N95, and then getting the generic firmware, your service provider will have modified the firmware to remove this function. I know Vodafone have and might eventually put it back in at a later date, they removed it as they said that their services do not work with this function... Which is stupid.

By the way changing your product code, is not only risky you can brick your phone, but it also voids warranty. So unless its desperate no point in doing it.

what network are you on? There is a way around it
Using google search for NOKIA BETA LABS doing a scroll down you should find gizmo for n95 do exactly as instructed setup a new user name etc you should be able to use your internet phone
