There's a 2 month old thread on the developer's forum that suggests Nokia could still do that for 808?

Improving on Belle FP2

 

I would like to make short correction to our previous comments just to avoid
potential misunderstandings. When we were talking about maintenance mode we
were actually referring to our earlier Symbian releases. We do have new feature
development for Pureview 808 product and we periodically evaluate what updates
are needed to attract the end users. Your comments will we re-evaluated in
these cross-check points.

Day by day I , as many other symbian phone users out there, am lossing my trust on symbian.I love my 808 very much but as i see i think one day i will regret that i bought nokia 808......

The 808 feels like an unfinished product that was released too early even after 5 years of R&D.
