Is it still not possible to add shortcuts to a file in Belle?

Hello, for a long time now I've been wondering why there is no way to create a shortcut to a folder or a file inside a folder in your memory card, it seems to me a very important function and yet no one complains but me.

Let's say I have an office file which I use daily which is saved in E:\My files\accounts\home\office\word\daily.doc
It would be great to add a shortcut to that file on the desktop. or at least to that folder.

Or lets say I'm listening to an audiobook which is in:  E:\My files\Audio\Audiobooks\personal\Born to run\CD5\chapter 4.mp3
Every time I want to listen to this I have to dig deep in the file manager.

If anyone can help me in this matter, either by a program or a tip I would very much appreciate it. My phone is a Nokia C7 BTW.

Thanking you in advance.

Bobak.

Re: Is it still not possible to add shortcuts to a file in Belle?

Hey Fatboy123456, Welcome to the Nokia Forums.

If you long press in an empty spot whilst in the applications menu, you can create a new folder which you can name 'Work Documents' for example.

If you then long press on the new folder you created, you can then add it to your home screen. You can then fill this file with the documents that you wish to shortcut to, if you enter mass storage mode you can place the files in the directory.

I hope this helps and this was the answer your where looking for.

Sheldrick, thank you very much for your quick and informative answer,I feel very exited as I really feel agitated by this.

I did as you said, namely creating the folder in applications and adding it to the homescreen, but now how do I populate it with my files? where is this folder located in the file manager so I can copy my files into it?

Currently my files are at:

E:\My files\...

I thank you again for your time.

Hi Fatboy123456,

Apologies, but I have spent a long time trying to work around this issue and it is only possible to put applications in folders that are on your homescreen, I have suggested this issue as an improvement to be made for future software updates.

Fayboy-

I am chasing this problem also.

In Anna, I have found that you can make a shortcut to a specific file, but not to a folder.

You have to make a Bookmark in the Web browser to the file on your phone.

Then you can point the shortcut widget to the bookmark.
