Whenever I insert my micro SIM card, my brand new 808 doesn't recognize it. It bypasses the PIN code screen and goes right to the main screen. Then it freezes in a matter of seconds and restarts, freezes-restarts, freezes-restarts all the time.

Trying to find out whether the phone was faulty or the micro SIM card, I grabbed a regular size SIM, I cut it to microSIM format, I inserted it in the 808 and it happens that this phone works flawless.

I'm going to request a replacement for my old micro SIM but I'd like to know if I should ask for a regular SIM and cut it myself to micro format or what.

It would be best to get a micro sim directly from your provider rather than cutting.

The point is that I noticed the copper area of the regular SIM is different than the microSIM. It is bigger and it has a couple of stripes on the sides. I thought that 808 pins were not making contact with the microSIM card as they should.

I mean, regular SIM and microSIM are both different formats. How in earth my phone works ok with a modified regular SIM when it is supposed to work with a microSIM?

not sure why it works, my microSIM works on my 920 and its cut down from a normal SIM i saw the shop guy do it in front of me. Your option now is to do as Jimmyireland has stated.

Why i suggested what i did as ive both the 808 and 920 along wiht many other phones it works for me and everyone else ive suggested to.Its your call from here what to do do.
