Hi there

I just got a new Nokia N73 and was attempting to install the Barcode Scanner thats located in the Downloads! folder. When the installation is nearly complete I get the message: 'Unable to install - component is built in' anyone had a similar problem? How did you get it sorted? If it is in fact installed where is it hiding?

This reads the barcodes found on things we buy. The barcode contain information about its mfg. * expiry dates. phone nos., web link etc.

Now looking to the problem Bar code rader must be pre-installed. Therefore there was no need to re-intsall. Just navigate to menu
(Try under my own ) and see if you find bar code reader

Hi there - there is no sign of the program anywhere on the phone - I even went to try to uninstall it and it doesnt come up on the list of installed components.

Do you have a help menu. see is you can find help for barcode reader. Else check with Nokia care

I given the fact you are unable to see barcode reader in your phone its strongly possoble that module is currupted. Try with Nokia care. Maybe reflashing can help

is there anyway i can reflash myself, as i dont wanna send it off to nokia for them to take a month and be without a phone throughout that time.

Install the last firmware with NSU tool from Support pages. If the phone is a network locked version, could not have new firmware or even don´t have the bar code reader application. The application it self, works well with 2D codes and very bad with linear codes.

Feel lucky if NSU works for N-73. Else you have to live with Nokia Care. Try getting friendly as flashing takes 20 minutes flat. Another 10 minutes for QC check. You should be out of Nokia care in 30 minutes

tried taking it to nokia center and they wanted it for more than 2 weeks.

I have had no luck with the NSU either - it says there is no update available and the postal service want my phone for a fortnight to do the firmware update - what a joke!!

and no sign of it whatsoever..

Also only just updated my software (xmas day afternoon to be exact)

Shame... sounds a nice gadget for it too

Got the same problem here on my brand new O2 N73, just doesn't appear anywhere...

Same here. I've just got my N73 (not locked/not cobranded) and updated it with NSU.
The version is 3.0638.0.0.1.

I've tried by the Catalogs app on my phone and via the SIS file on the Nokia website with no results.

It's apparently a common problem, see this thread.

I can dowanload Barcode Reader (Menu/Download, you may need to select Options/Refresh list) but can't install it because it says: the component is built in.

Hi mate. I have N73 n i am facing the same problem while installing. I could not find any solution for that. If u find out something regarding that, please let me know. thankyou
