N73 Phone gets hot on idle mode.

Been using the nokia phone N73-1 for almost two (2) months now, however today 16 Feb 2008 the phone gets hot in standby mode. I kept the phone for two hours but the temperature did’nt changed, still getting hotter. So, I remove the battery to quickly stop the temperature rising. And after 1 hr putting back the battery (BP-6M), I observed that the temperature has back to normal. Unusual situation and maybe fatal to my health to use this N73-1, could anybody explain the reason why my phone is getting hot.

Re: N73 Phone gets hot on idle mode.

Maybe your battery is being short circuited.

I've had mine almost a year now and its never done that... are you sure its not in direct sunlight?

Either your phone processor is getting rather hot because something has started stressing it to the extreme or your battery is being shorted out.

Take it to a service centre for a check up.

Re: N73 Phone gets hot on idle mode.

Even I was facing the same problem with my 3 year old Nokia N73 with 1 year old replaced battery. It used to get heated up abnormally and drained the entire battery within 15-20 minutes. Even during charging it used to get heated up and switched off automatically. Later I found that my memory card was not working and my phone was not able to access it. Then I removed it and checked my mobile for overheating. Now it is working fine without inserting that corrupted memory card.however i haven't checked it yet with a new memory card.

This was my experience which I liked to share in case anyone faces the same problem.
