The problem i have found, is that all the solutions above do work, but not always. Sometimes one, then the other. I have found a new one.
I start up my phone, just flicker between the three homescreens so it doesn't autolock [where the screensaver will not be working] and then wait for the notifications of the internetconnectivity to appear and tell me that the connection has failed [al trillion of them and while i do have internet connectivity...] after those notifications have disappeared i lock the phone with the side button and voíla.
Allthough i enjoy being creative and seeing people be creative with ways to get this screensaver working again, why is there no solution from nokia itself so we don't have to spend our time on this issue? The phones should be working for us, not us for them.
It sometimes makes me wanna go back to my N76.. After the upgrade where all the bugs were removed, that phone was a perfect piece of telecommunication.
Fingers crossed in hoping they'll do the same for the N8 !.

So, either i found a solution, or the update i installed right after it has fixed the problem!.
If it wasn't the update, here's what i did before that.
I started my phone and once again the screensaver didn't come back. I got a little irritated and just manhandled the switch. On and off and on and off and on and off and so forth. Anywayz, i put the phone and after a while i noticed the screensaver!. After my battery had left me once again i charged it and afterwards i started the phone, and when i saw the homescreen i inmediatly locked the phone with the sideswitch. it will not lock inmediatly [due to loading everything] and you might still see the little key a few seconds but put your phone down and after not even a minute or so, tadaaa, there's the screensaver.
Hope this one helps if the update didn't!!.

Regarding the SCREENSAVER FAILURE problem, I have a PERFECT solution!!!
However, I am not sure if this will work for you, because I have SPB Mobile Shell, but it is worth a try!
1) Make sure you have the widget for the MUSIC PLAYER on one of your main operating page.
2) Turn OFF your phone regularly. (NO NEED to hard rest by hold over 8 secs)
3) Turn ON your phone.
4) Once the phone loaded up, immediate play any song through your music player before the phone auto-locks.
5) Lock your phone with your side-lock button; your screensaver should come back.
Both my g/f & I owns a Nokia N8, and we both experienced the screensaver failure problem. My N8 was easy to fix by many people's solution of just simply reset, and it automatically fixed the problem. But My g/f's N8 was stubborn, and wouldn't turn the screensaver back on by this simple reset method. Later I discovered the above method, and it worked every time! I think somehow the music player is triggering the screensaver and forces it to stay on.
Well, although we somehow surpass this issue, but Nokia still need to fix this problem. Nokia N8 is a great phone, it shouldn't have such a simple mistake in it. This makes the perfect phone imperfect!!! Anyway, please let me know if this method works for you guys, thanks.
Arkron's post from another thread, which helped me (only solution which worked actually)

In my case it was a widget problem, my solution was to put me in a screen with no widgets then restart the phone. The phone restarted in the screen with no widgets and my screensaver was working again. ![]()
