I recently bought a used N8 to replace my old one that got stolen, although it works perfectly, I've had a couple of occasions where it has switched itself off overnight, & I cannot switch back on until putting on charge, despite the phone being well charged the day before.
Is it possible that an app I've downloaded could be causing the battery to discharge overnight? Or is this likely to be an inherent hardware problem?

Hi davej65,
Thanks for your post and welcome back to the Nokia forum.
We are really sorry for this inconvenience.
Many features in your Nokia N8 device increase the demand on battery power and reduce the battery life time. To save battery power, note the following:
Hope this helps and feel free to post any other questions you may have.

Hi Pfrancoise, thanks for all the info, however my poroblem is that on occassions I go to bed with a fully charged phone with no apps running or anything else on that would drain the battery but it somehow discharges overnight. Something must be switching on to do this. My mailbox is not set to sync.
Is there a log i can retireve off the phone to see what's been going on?

You could try, installing Nokia Battery Monitor from the store, it will list the main power using applications though you may find that the power is being used by something listed as background which isn't a great help.
Try switching off Wi-fi, Bluetooth and Mobile data before going to bed or grab App Stop from the store and use it too switch off everything then check it again in the morning to see what's running.
Failing all of the above re-install the firmware using Nokia suite and reload apps gradually till you find the culprit.

Nokia Energy profiler and Netquin MobileGuard are also very useful in tracking down rogue background processes.
