N86 USB connection problem

I can not connect my N86 to pc via USB cable, I'm using Widows XP SP3, and Original USB cable comes with the package, Last version of PC Suite, Nokia connectivity cable driver, Nokia Pc Suite Cleaner, all downloaded from Nokia. When I connect it to pc, it starts to be charged but it doesn't be recognized by Pc Suite. I restarted pc and phone both and even reinstalled the program using PC Suite Cleaner several times but no success! I even reset the phone to Factory default and used different pc (with windows XP & 7) but still the same problem! I don’t think it's security locked because I didn't change the setup (Menu/ Tools/ Setting/ General/ Security/ PIN code request: off)

Any help really appreciated!

Re: N86 USB connection problem

Does your computer give you a "new device found" message? If it does you have to wait for some minutes first as it will still be installing device drivers.

Re: N86 USB connection problem

i have exactly the same problem.

First N86 was returned after usb port fell out. Three mobile claimed that it was damaged so I had to refer them to the fact that numerous people on here had the same problem and then threaten to sue them. At that point they replaced the handset and I was sent a replacement that does not show up or connect to PC by cable. Sent it in for repair and they claimed that there is no problem so I went out and bought another cable and still no joy. Again I had to complain and I am currently awaiting my third N86 since October. I expect this one to be faulty too as stock suddenly appeared during the ten minute telephone call from Three. I was assured that it was an unused handset returned within 14 days but I really do doubt that.

Unless something changes, a long time Nokia user will no longer be.

Re: N86 USB connection problem

Try replacing the USB cable. If your USB Cable is alright, then read below.

I know why it is happening because it happened with my N8 too.

Nokia wants you to use the LATEST Nokia Suite only. They don't want you to use the PC Suite, the classic application for older sets.
So, if you install PC Suite Version 7.17 or so, it won't work properly.

SOLUTION: Use a slightly older version of PC Suite. I was using a 6.96 that came from the CD of 5220 Xpressmusic and it was working fine with my N8, but latest version wasn't working fine.
Try downloading an older PC suite from the internet...

My Story: Used 6670, Used N91, Used N8, Using Pureview 808 now. I requested Nokia to get N91's sound quality and features in the latest phones. No response from Nokia!

Re: N86 USB connection problem

The reason you didn't get a response from Nokia is that, when they become rich they forget the beauty of creativity and interest. I so wish them having maintained their creativity and loving technology like they used to. And hopefully they will. :smileyhappy:
