I own a NOKIA 701 and its one month old and my firmware is uptodate and this auto restart issue started from the 10thday of purchase, when i contacted the customer care they have suggested me to restore factory settings and it worked for few days and from past 1week the problem started again and this time it started restarting 3 times a day and i have done restoring factory settings, hard reset and nothing worked out and finally took it to NOKIA CARE and they have reinstalled the operating system ( 2 times as when they have done it on the first day the problem started again on the second day so then again they have re-installed formatting mass memory too)  and but then also the problem still persists and is this a software issue or a hardware issue  , please do let me know the solution for this problem  and make me feel proud of owing a NOKIA mobile.

i suggest you go back to nokia care and explain the issue again.

Is it possible to use another SIM card (Friends' / Family members') for a day or so to see if the problem still persists. If not, then get your SIM replaced.

Have you installed any 3rd party software's after you reset the device?

Did you restore the backup with the settings after reset (or re-flash) the device?

If yes, could you reset the factory settings again to check if this is hardware issue. Take a memory card off and do not restore backup or install any 3rd party software's.

If device still restart itself, then I suppose it is hardware issue and you should go back to Nokia Care to repair device.

I have the same problem. Most of the time it happens just after i finished a text massage.

Just before or after sending the phone restarts automatically.

No problems with my 701 here.
Don't install any 3rd party software.
Install from Store. They are safe.
You can also install net qin antivirus for free from Store.

Got my 701 1 month back, but it restarts everyday min once during network switch & WIFI connection, is there any software problem or hardware.

i have not installed any 3rd party softwares, when ever i use nimbuzz and ckeck emails this thing happens, i have used my mobile( i use a 2g connection) for some days with out turning on the mobile data on, and never faced this autorestart problem. what might be the problem ? is it with the network or with the hardware ???

I've got the same problem with Nokia 701 and software *.0609. Have you found the solution?

do you set your network mode to dual mode? if that's so, try to set it to gsm. maybe there's a conflict when the phone is trying to hang on the 3g network even there's only 2g available.

Are you by any chance from South Africa. I've noticed that my 5800 and my 701 restarts on a South African network. I visit relatives in Namibia about 4 times a year, neither restarts in Namibia at all???

NOKIA WAKE UP!!! i got nokia 701 bc a friend who uses it kinda got me impressed with d phone. But i've not had a good sleep since i bought that phone..autostart issues,hanging,touchscreen not responding,sim card error,a notification"popupclock" appearing on homescreen in d region of d network provider name,stopping d phone from responding till i pull out d battery! I just flashed d phone,but to no avail. So i did hard reset..it was ok,until i downloaded few apps from nokia store,even with netqin antivirus in action..i'v been using (since Aug 2010) my 5800xpress music,even as it took a dive into a bucket of detergent,a spread-out in d sun was all that was needed.D 8G mem card it came wt is d one i transfered to my 701. Even after formatting it to avoid any possible queries,this Helen couldn't handle it..nokia shouldn't have released these belle stuff..they should have done their home-work from d FACTORY rather than pushing some PROBLEMATIC updates..i also realize these made in Asia nokia are low quality products.My 5800 was from hungary,no problem after 2yrs of use,still counting..my x-101 from India,doesn't recognize d other twin-sim intermittently,my 5250 from china,doesn't recognize mem card. And now 701 from korea!

I am facing the same problem of phone auto restart while using WIFI and second problem is it losses the connectivity even in a high connectivity area, i thought it might be a problem of SIM card so i got SIM replaced with a new one but still d problem is same....... When i bought it then also i face similar problem including some problem in touch pad then co gave me replacement with other one... It looks Nokia loves its customers so much that they want them to be in regular through Nokia Care centres....

Dude just make sure that ur mobile is upto date. I used to face such restart problems due to bad network( which i came to know later), some times the mobile service that your are using may have some conflicts due to which ur mobile restarts. So i suggest you to first  make sure that your mobile is upto date (i.e., Feature Pack 1 installed) and then use it for few days and see if u still face this restart problem , try to get a new sim card from another service provider and try to use that for few days and see, if the problem persists then its the problem with the mobile ( which wont happen as the problem is with service providers causing this mobile restart in 701 ). @myself01, I have the exact same problem with my 701 from korea. I would back up ur claim about the asians producing subpar nokias cos I've used the 5530, 1600, E51, E63 and never had any trouble, which is why i'm a diehard nokia fan but the popupclock issue tears my scalp bald.

Bad themes installed perhaps? Uninstall them all except Nokia Evolve. Try it out for a couple of days..
