Hi, I have a problem with the Nokia 701, the (in built) headphone is not working, just to explain quickly when somebody calls me and I answer I cannot hear anything what the person is sayin through the headphone so I have to switch to the loudspeaker to hear what they are sayin and once I was talkin to a friend the sound just broke up through the headphone and I coudnt hear anything so i had to switch to the speakerphone again to hear what they were sayin. It is really annoying me, I have been using this phone for only 2 months and I can not believe that I'm having this problem ! It never fell on the ground or anything like that. If there is any help or suggestions I will be very glad to hear them, thank you.

Hey Mevi, Welcome to the Nokia forums!

Do you have the headset which come with the phone? Would it be possible to check your headphones to see if they work properly on other devices?

It could be that the headphones are damaged or the head phone cables are damaged. Please check by using them on other devices or PC's to check that it is not your headphones.

Also please check the phone audio jack to make sure there is no dirt or anything obstructing the socket.

ummm sorry I didn't explain well enough what the problem is about, I dont have a problem with the headphones they work fine, the problem is with the HANDSET that is not working, I again repeat when someone is calling me and I answer I cannot hear anything what they are sayin so I have to switch to the loudspeaker which is very annoying, I hope u understand my problem now, thanks !

And you are not able to adjust the volume during call?

I suggest reinstalling the phone software using Nokia Suite to be sure it is not a software issue. If the problem persists it is most likely a problem with the speaker and needs to be taken to a Nokia Care point to be repaired.

Of course the volume is at it's max, can't hear nothing on the HANDSET so I have to turn the LOUDSPEAKER on to hear what my caller is sayin lol I think it's a hardware problem but I just wanted to ask would maybe a software update via pc suite do the trick, because there is an update for the nokia 701 belle. And just one more thing I have to ask will my phone get locked if I update or reinstall the phone software? Because my phone wasn't sim free when I got it.

You should have no issues updating to FP1 on your unlocked 701 if you have not already.

Let me know if the update cures your phone or not

I think you have problem with your network.
I suggest you to go to good network signal area while on call so that you won't get the problem of voice being cut often.
Also, if you are not using 3G then switch to 2G network.

hi guys its me again, ok so the same problem has returned but this time my handset is completely dead not even the hard reset can help this time.

your post is just silly, because when i swich to the speaker phone i hear everything so it can not be problems with the network. I always have full reception, there is a short circit on the headset cause sometimes it's workin and sometimes not ..

If not then better goto Nokia Care for repairs.
