Sorry for the trouble and delay, the licence issue and the way how to solve it has been discussed between Nokia and BBC. A solution will hopefully be soon available.

I'm back streaming too!! Thanks. Great news, and I'm glad Nokia and BBC are "talking" about the Downloading issue.
Its good to know the collective has helped to rectify this issue. As with many people the phone's value decreased when iplayer didn't work anymore.

Delay? A delay is when your train is five minutes late. This problem has already celebrated its one month anniversary! Wouldn't it have been better for the BBC & Nokia to have a conversation before the Beeb changed something so that there's an immediate solution as soon as users are taken off line? Maybe I'm just being old fashioned in thinking that the user is actually vaguely important?

Hi, I'm the one with the C7, just looked at the software updater, and guess what a download for the DRM plugin, It put a smile on my face, but was soon taken off, as I can still not get the license to play my programmes. Anybody had any luck with their phones.

I think it was the DRM plugin not sure, was in a hurry to download, maybe somebody could tell me what it was, but still - made no difference

I've just made a complaint to the BBC Trust about this and the BBC's Apple Bias- I urge you to do the same to try and get this moving.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/
Post here too if you want to feedback your disgust about how this hasn't been dealt with by the BBC- yet they've just announce Iplayer will be able to be streamed to Iphones and Ipads via 3G.

-only strength in numbers will give them the kick they need to get this fixed.

+1. I'm sick and tired of the British media (especially the Daily Mail) constantly singing the praises of Apple and their range of overpriced products.

Another temp work around - I have downloaded from BBC iPlayer using my old N97 and no probs at all. I did notice that with N97 the clip was xxx.odf not xxx.wmv as with N8.
I bluetoothed the clip to my N8 and attempted to play the clip, the N8 said I had to register with the provider and so clicked yes. the browser opened and registered automatically. the clip plays fine!
a bit of a pain doin it this way but atleast I can now watch downloads on N8.
I then tried to download more clips (now I'd registered) but am afraid no change, unable to get licence still !!!
Come on BBC, sort it before Christmas please!

Can Nokia/BBC provide some update on how long its going to take to fix this issue.
2011-12-22 10:16
Sorry for the delay, the plan is to deliver an update via the SW Update channel to fix this issue. The update should be available pretty soon, you will find it in the phone's SW Update menu after it's released.

Hi to all BBC iPlayer users in Britain,
A plugin is about to be released for devices running Symbian Anna and Symbian Belle which will fix the licence acquisition issue, this will be available via trhe IAD software update facility in your Nokia phone, which is normally found in the Applications menu.
2011-12-22 14:05
This is great news, not on software update yet. Hopefully its before christmas day. Thanks very much.

Fantastic news that there's about to be a fix but this is what it says on the iPlayer help site:
"We are aware of this issue and Nokia have been working on a fix which will be rolled out to Anna and Belle devices in the new year."
This means it will be 2 months (at least) that it's not been possible to download & watch programmes. Since that's the only reason I got the N8 I will have too think long and hard about which device I get next.
Appalling service, whether it's the BBC's fault or Nokia's. Clearly the BBC definition of 'supported devices' is not what a normal person might expect. Obviously supporting Nokia is simply not a BBC prioity.
