I have dealt with several other companies in regards to customer service and satisfaction. i am somewhat baffled by Nokia's lack of involvement with their client base. I recently watched the latest Nokia World, and was amazed at the speakers claims to be the leader in connecting people and merging all facets of everyday life into simple solutions. I am amazed because where is this committment? frustrated N97 owners are awaiting the new firmware updates with great anticipation. Where is Nokia's commitment? Is Nokia's client base too large? Is there not enough staff?
How can Nokia continue to be a leader while alienating it's own clients.
I have seen these events transpire in the past with other companies, and they result from a lack of organisation and communication within it's own walls.
Nokia, please fullfill your claims of commitment to your loyal clients. Remember your goal of making the world connect more easily? Try and start by connecting with your own clients.

The latest version for NSU is 01.08.000.39420

Now days people who continue to support Nokia are not really supporting them, nokia needs to wake up and show some courage to carry on.
They have the resources, what’s the excuse?
Everyday in this forum from every nuke and corner of this world people are yelling for frimware update and features, one can’t even use this **bleep** N97 properly because of the limiting screens low memory ,horrid interfaces and low ram ,lens issue.
Did Nokia engineers really test N97 before it was released for public use ?
I would say N97 is a complete failure as to user experience.
I bet those who purchased n97 spending $600+ are for sure not going to recommend Nokia phones to their loved one in future, I’m not going to do so in anyway Nokia is backtracking themselves by hurting the sentiments of users who purchased this **bleep** phone and for sure this is going to hit nokia sales in coming days cuz people have lost their faith in Nokia.

I wish people on here would grow up. It seriously is like watching 2 year olds cry about not getting a lolly at the shops.
Yes the n97 was rushed to market. Yes it wasn't tested properly. Yes it had STUPID hardware and software issues that shouldnt be present on a $1000 AUD phone.
Yes we have a right to complain about it.
And we have, and have helped eachother here to deal with some of the fixable issues. (This forum is good for that)
Maybe nokia is trying (maybe too late) to actually fix most of the firmware issues with the n97.
It would be nice to actually have nokia explain to us what is going on (and in part they have for a change)
I agree that some people are only recieving v12 (thanks psychomania) Which is pretty sad but at least a nokia employee came and told us the problem was recognised.
BUT what annoys me here is all the people who harass Nokia because the firmware wasn't released to them on the first of October at 12:00am? (on a public forum that Nokia generally don't read)
I do grow tired of people complaning daily IN CAPITALS demanding that nokia release a fix yesterday because they are too ignorant to read some other posts here. Some fools here don't even read the stickys.
Before you flame attack me, I agree this is a person to person forum and it is our right to complain, but absolutely no amount of whining, complaining, threatening, attempts to downgrade to a fruit or other phone, crying, tantrum throwing and acting like you are 2 is going to make this firmware or any other firmware arrive any quicker.
I personally am waiting with anticipation for v2 for n97, It was promised at nokia world to come in OCTOBER, there are still 12 days left of this month (I predicted cynically in another thread in September for the firmware to be due around the end of the month....)
We then recieved an update that it would be in the next few weeks due to bug resolution (still fits the timeline of 2 weeks left of October AND shows that nokia is testing the firmware!)
When November rolls around and unbranded handsets dont have v2, bring on the complaints....(use the contact us button en masse....(might crash their mail servers
)
So lets be constructive for now instead of pages and pages of tantrums. Flame off please!

Well at the moment, YES I would buy another Nokia as no other company has ever offered the reliability or featureset of my previous nokias (including my current n95 and 6120 classic)
Most touchscreen handsets are either trying to be a fruitphone (poorly) or just are from manufacturers who I have owned handsets from that make nokia look perfect.
I do confess to being upset that I have to install rotateme seperately as the n95-3 is poorly supported. I would not buy another poorly supported nokia from the USA. BUT now the firmware system seems to be fixed and firmwares are more global so I can cross that gripe off my list as the NAM (for next-g) models are getting firmware at the same time as the Euro variants or before
As to the recommend to friends and family, Yes I would, as my satisfaction level is still high at my current handsets and with the other dumbphone options that nokia offer which are fairly rock solid, why would you want to go to a less appealing manufacturer with less support?
It appears most of the dissatisfaction here is the n97 (which is the next handset I would like to get once the bugs are ironed out IF they are ironed out) and then the next complainers are all the people who bought a cheaper 5800 and then are DEMANDING that nokia upgrade its capabilities to that of the n97? When was equivalence to n97 featureset ever offered. It is rare that Nokia allows that to occur. So stop complaining! (How many s60v3 handsets have the exact same featureset...just because your handset has the same OS version doesnt mean nokia will include all enhancements. Wait! Maybe i should start demanding that the n96 features (if any) be added to my n95....hmmm an ALL CAPS post may be forthcoming......(kidding)
PLUS I am not a child like another poster on this forum who shouts abuse at nokia for not including smileys? OOOH that is such a deal breaker (pathetic!)

The Problem is that Nokia is going bad, i have skipped their phones for years, but an year ago i both E71 - Perfect phone!!! I liked it a lot, BUT after FW300 it starts hangs on a call reception with NO solution, after annoying weeks i finally give up and both N97 (my brother recommended it), what a failure - Top of the line - most expensive Nokia - Hanging on call recipiency via sliding right, showing battery full till it runs out![]()
and again No solution.
What i really value is a STABLE and Durable phone and if it possible dialer like HTC's - nothing better than this!
Waiting FW20 with anticipation, but soon enough i'll go to Android or something (id go to E52 but if You read complains about it N97 starts to shine)

Hi. I have been using N97 for few weeks. Currently have installed firmware v12.0.024 on it. But still have many while using it:
- phone sometimes (daily) stops responding (after incoming call is received)
- after using conection via USB cable, memory used for messages has been switched back to "phone memory". Because I using Mail For Exchange this is a big problem!
- GPS functions are absolutely unusable. GPS receiver have low signal and when it is fixed then the accuracy is approx. from 40 to 150 meters!
Are these bugs resolved in new incoming firmware ? (V20.XXX)

@ the guy saying his friends laugh at him with their iphone..
i got board of always having nokia and for some years i changed from sony ericsson to iphone 2g 3g and 3gs i had a motorola v3 just for the hell of it for change..
what i noticed about the iphones is the fact they show off about adding features phones have had for YEARS wow look at us aqdd mms how amazing is that and video recording omg thats new isent it..
also the lack of features no flash on the camera no front camera a **bleep** 3mp camera no sending files with bluetooth laugh at ur iphone friends who cant even s3nd a simple file with the bluetooth the n97 can use the n97 as a external drive to add files where as everything on the iphone goes through itunes.
n97 you can add more memory the n97 wins in every aspect of the phone.. two things ACtually i like better on the iphone,,
they actually release firmware to everyone at the same time.. nokia suck for taking 500 years to release firmware to everyone.. there is a trick to get it quicker the firmware but as i understand thats not allowed officially by nokia..
also the languages in the settings nokia seem to like to add only a few languages depending on the country so for example englands code has english french and a few other languages but the iphone no matter where you buy the phone it has the same languages in the phone!
and for people like me who buy the n97 from other countries and then want their language in the settings and cant add it. it makes it very annoying.. i need greek in my phone settings and because i got it from some english guy it has no greek which sucks..
other then that and the double ram the iphone has the n97 is much better.. not forgetting have u tried everything touch screen? how annoying the touch screen keyboard is and how annoying it is using the net and trying to copy paste from web sites.
how easier it is to play qames with the keypad inbstead of some **bleep** touch screen only..
apple limit what goes in the app store.. they dont allow a theme or changing of sms tone to a good one so many simple features i used to wonder why nokia show off about them and it turns out some companies dont even allow it..
nokia listen to customer wants and needs and they win hands down every time

squarebear,
i completely agree with what you said, one other thing people forget is that come on guys this is nokia's second touch screen phone and yeah i don't know what they rushed it, it would have been much better if they released it in October or November. they rushed it and it was a big mistake but im sure if you go to a samsung forum or iphone or other ones you going to find people complaining about their phones. I've always had nokia well but one time and yeah right now im not so excited about the N97 i have but unlike some people i dont have to restart it twice a day, i think if you keep up with it daily and clean the stuff you can like the messages, web catch and history and all that you can use it without a problem. Give nokia time N900 is going to be great but I've heard they are working on their next touch screen and i can only imagine how bad **bleep** its going to be. i can understand why they rushed it, not saying it was a good move, but considering all these other companies are coming up with so many touch screen phones nokia couldn't just count on the 5800 to sell lol. well all im saying is lets wait for the v.2 and see how that works and like squarebear said, they announced it will be sometimes in October lol still have 12 days or so left so be patient guys even tho every morning i wake up i check for updates hoping the new FW is out lol but im sure they going to fix most the problems. they cant afford loosing this many nokia owners to Iphone or samsung ...2009-10-18 18:44

@kman00
thats right its not a very good phone.. maybe in FEW YEARS IF THEY KEEP RELEASING PHONES EVERY YEAR caps off.. then it might be worth buying one once they catch up with features but they do it because if they release a phone with everything from the first iphone then they have nothing to add and make less money so like this they release a new phone each year slowly adding features and making much more money from apple fans willing to buy it with whatever the phone has..
app store is very limited apple have to approve apps, so you basically buy a phone and apple tell you how to use it..
how nokias ovi store sucks i think nokia shouldent have botherd put something because its much easier to download apps from a google search send the setup file with bluetooth and then install !
and the nokia n97 has plenty of games i have a game boy advanced emulator mario kart street fighter tekken lego racers sonic all the classic games and it works very well i had a update for n-gage and i now have a folder where i download many more games some free some not.. but well worth it and the keypad makes it so much easier to play the games where as the iphones touch screen only screen makes it a pain to play the games
worms tennis cluedo devil may cry tennis spiderman transformers windows media player word winrar..
whatever game and app ive found for the iphone in app store i have found for the n97 and more..
most the apps in app store ar a waste of time.. but in all honest once the iphone catches up with specs and apple dont restrict the phone so much and once i can buy a phone without needing to jailbreak ill probably buy a iphone and have two phones one iphone and one nokia of some make.. maybe the sony ericsson with the 12mp camera
but speaking of cameras i havent noticed any difference in quality from the nokia n97 5mp camera and the 3mp iphone camera.

It is not posible to be V2.0 because in the first place it not says anywhere that it is an update to V2.0 and in second place the first uptade to V2.0 it will be for unlocked phones.
Sow is just a lie or just an update to V12,or posible to be just an ad for people to go and update their phones in the future.
Don't belive anything that it is writen on internet,i learn my lesson and it is not good to trust in enithing that in written.
Have a nice day
