I use my Social app & widget frequently throughout the day.  A few hours ago it forced me to download version 1.3 and when it went through the install process it said "Unable to Install."  I still cannot access the social app without the forced upgrade and the upgrade keeps failing.  I've also tried updating with software updates and it is not showing up.  In addition I downloaded it on my PC, transferred it to my N8 and attempted a reboot and install, still "unable to install."  Any ideas?

cant help, but same here. i have uninstalled, reinstalled, saved the file locally, etc. still cannot get it to work, and now cannot access Social.

I'm having the same problem but mine might be connected to the fact i uninstalled 'notifications 1.01' would this affect anything with the social app? Seems a strange coincidence to me!

Uninstalled it by accident by the way!

dont think so, i still have notifications installed but cannot install this social update to 1.3 ...

Yeah same problem here, its a pain as the app was working fine and now i have the same problem as you 'unable to install'!

Anyone have any idea where i can find 'notifications 1.01' so i can re install it? Cant find it anywhere.

Crazy stuff but I got it to finally update.  I don't know what was necessary and what wasn't but here's the procedure I followed.

1. Uninstalled Social App

2. Downloaded Social 1.1 on pc using http://nmota.messaging.nokia.com/clients/Social_1_1_update.sisx

3. transferred to N8 and installed

4. rebooted when prompted.

5. placed widget on homescreen

6. opened social from widget

7. entered facebook credentials when prompted

8. hit "exit" rather than "update"

9. downloaded social 1.2 on pc using

http://nmota.messaging.nokia.com/clients/Social_1_​2_update.sisx

10. transferred to N8 and installed

11. rebooted when prompted

12. downloaded social 1.3 on pc using http://nmota.messaging.nokia.com/clients/Social_1_3_update.sisx

13. Installed and it now works

The links are all update 1.2. Not 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3???

Well just updated social to 1.3.143

No problems!

loaded social 1.2

put in password

it stated an update available

pressed OK

it downloaded update (1.3)

message - to install have to stop process

pressed OK

auto installed widget

splash screen

message 'Please sign in'

all works fine.

cant see whats improved although it seems much faster and more stable.

I noticed that it connects to a website in the background using the browser during the update.

Are those who have a failed update using non-standard apps in the background or another browser such as Opera?

missle: i uninstalled entirely first - therefore getting no warnings about replacing.

the only non-standard app i had running was Ndesk - it didnt occur to me to kill it with jbak first...

How do i uninstall entirely? Done it on app manager but where else is it on the phone?

hey i'm still unable to do the update.., installed 1.1 then trying to install 1.2 via phone and ovi suite also.
