Tried this and it worked. I didn't install the Sosial Mixer tho, directly install Social Networks v1.03.143 without rebooting. After installation finished, it asked to install Social Mixer, but I pressed cancel and it still works.

What is Social Mixer anyway?

The file "Social Networks v1.03.143.sisx" proposed by skiman and contained in his zip file is exactly the same (I have compared the MD5SUMs) as the file "Social_1_3_update.sisx" that you can download from Nokia's servers via the link mentioned several times above.

This still doesn't work for me though and I suspect a lot of other people have the same problem.

I don't have "Social Installer" listed in apps manager and as far as I've noticed it's never been there.

Go figure.

So now I have no Nokia Social and no way to put it back. But I still have a Social home screen widget (which obviously doesn't do anything)

This download worked for me! I had 1.2.157. Installed the 1.2 update, then reboot. Then installed the update 1.3 file and it installed fine. Social app. works again. Didn't even needed to reboot.

My social network stopped working when I installed update 1.3. but works perfect when i used only the link for update 1.3 no solution from nokia. THAK YOU GUYS IN THIS FORUM, FOR BEEING HELPFUL!

another thing is the social 1.3 missing the "all activities, stastus update, and events + inbox + friends request" from the homescreen widget!!! Anyone face the same missing part?

**bleep** Nokia, of course Social 1.2.163 can't be installed either.

Seriously, I rather use Snaptu, Socially and Friendchat than Social.

I rather use Opera instead than the freakin built-in browser.

I rather use Profimail rather then the freakin built-in mail client.

I wonder why I use a Nokia mobile *at all*.

You guys need to improve *seriously*.

And while we're on it, please, Nokia, don't tell me *ever*, *ever* again, that "Nokia N8 Pocket Parrot translator" was a serious and good app - it's just **bleep**, as most of the rest in Ovi store.

Obviously the problem is not the same for everybody. One person mentioned the Vodaphone software as an issue. My phone is a U.S. non-carrier phone. I think that my problems began when I performed a Settings>Phone>Phone management>Factory Settings>Delete data and restore. I remember having problems getting social back on my phone at that time and that the only solution was to install 1.1 and then update to 1.2.

so to those who were able to use my wacky procedure to fix it, I am pleased that it worked. However I can't mark this as solved when evidently there are other users who still cannot fix it.

I will add that only noticeble changes are improved speed and a new button top-right that allows you to return to the main page. The speed is key as I really hated waiting for the feeds to update. I'll also mention that this phone rocks! I am not really upset at Nokia for these little issues since we wanted the phone sooner than later. I am sure the future firmwares will make threads like this unnecessary and improve the phone even more. Another thing I want to mention is that while I also use Socially, Snaptu and Gravity, the benefit of Social is the widget and the contact integration. I know that Socially has contact integration and Gravity has a widget but it's different and useful in its own way.

Anyway best of luck with getting it working for you.

I can install 1.1, 1.2,1.3 no matter what "Please uninstall and reinstall communites" error still persists. Yes or no is there a definate fix for this and i've tried everything including factory reset, formatting mass memory and reinstalling firmware. Will the supposed firmware update fix it?

Hello and congratulations for the work you do. I have a N8 and from what I read, many of you have the same problem installing the latest update for social networks. Now I wonder: why this update isrequired? Because of this I can not use the application anymorebecause every time you open it requires me to upgrade. If I choose not to do so the application is closed.

This didn't work for me UNTIL I deleted BOTH social AND communities. Then it worked, I have been trying to sort this out for days now so thank you very much!!
