Well, i came to know that Nokia N808 PureView is last symbian phone. Why nokia ending symbian series?

Don't know about the 808 being the last Symbian phone but Symbian as an OS has been abandoned due to lower than expected sales of Symbian handsets in recent months. Plus, Nokia's main focus is on the increasingly popular Windows Phone OS.
Android is a non starter for Nokia and I'd be very surprised if they ever release a phone with Android on it. Android is the least secure and most hacked phone OS out there.

No, the lower than (Nokia) expected sales of Symbian handsets in recent months is due to Nokia abandoning Symbian (the abandoning plans were decided and announced over a year ago, and last months sales is just a reflection of that announcement).
That is, it is not being abandoned because of lower sales, but the lower sales are the result of it being abandoned.

Without wanting to irritate anyone, Symbian was abandoned because it couldn't be developed quickly enough, the same being the case with meego, Nokia were losing market share rapidly as well as vast amounts of money, and a modern quick OS was needed quickly to stop the slide. Windows Phone was chosen and is the future high end OS for Nokia phones.

I don't agree on the fact that WP would be "increasingly popular", considering its (very) low amount of sales in comparison to Android or Apple OS ... ![]()

Marketing message excuses to justify the decision. Not reasons for the actual decisions.

If falling sales was not the reason behind the decision, then what is the reason for the abandonment of Symbian?
Cheers.

Business wise, it doesn't make any sense to keep on pumping money into a project that yields declining returns, so I can conclude that it was due to low returns (Sales) that Nokia decided to shift to the WP OS.
AS for the 808 being the last Symbian phone, well, there's still about 4 years to go before the plug is pulled on Symbian, so expect some phones in between, that's my view.

V

Donna: I'm betting that dual-core Symbian phones by Nokia will never come. (Android manufacturers have already announced quad-core models, and Symbian is not going there either.)

On gsmarena.com it is written in camera category "41MP (38MP effective)" what does that mean?

@ray: The hatchet job that Nokia did to all its existing technologies (the burning platform memo) and the announcement that they would move to WP. Falling sales are a by-product, but the decision to move to WP was already taken.
