Ok got my map working using map booster...which is great that it is, but it is not finding my correct position.Do you know what could be the issue?Any kind of help will be appreciated.

do you have gps and assisted gps turned to on? did you try reinstalling maps software and seeing if there is any change? did it used to work and now it does not?
if gps continues to be an issue and you have tried all these things and have them turned on then i suggest a visit to nokia care as it actually might be a gps module or hardware issue.

try the other things first start with checking all gps options and see if they are on, clean reinstall and see what happens. sometimes cleaning the cache also solves the issue.

Also, what version of maps do you have ? 3.04 is available that gives wifi location as well as network and GPS . You could also install Google maps , and see how accurately it positions you as that also uses GPS. Finally, how long are you giving the GPS to locate your position , as an initial GPS lock can take several minutes (which is why all the other methods are available !

Sometimes is not a problem of the phone hardware, but signal, sometimes there is not enough strenght in the signal to locate you, remember you need at least 4 strong satellite signals to get a fix point and/or 5 or more medium strenght signals to get a good fix.

I experience some problems of that too in crowded areas (many skyscrapers) or when a storm is in place.

The worst experience I had was when the USA lost control of a satellite that handle (among other things) GPS, I was like 2 weeks without a good positioning

Thanks for replies guys.Yes i have updated it using the map loader, and it does find my position now...problem is OVI MAP does not stop when i stop in a car..it keeps moving sometimes i can be in traffic so it just carries on lol.is google map free? and how do i check which version of ovi map i have? thanks.

The small movement of your position is due to the constant fixing position with the satellites, you can also see it in google maps, since it is contantly updating and it has a margin of error, you can see yourself moving from 1 to 10 meters, because the GPS is never 100% accurate, so is moving around to try to get the better position with the lesser margin of error

Google map has no voice does it? i downloaded it and when i set my destination it only shows you the routes in like words...maybe because i was not in car lol.

Google Maps for the Symbian platform does not offer voice navigation.  AFAIK, only Ovi Maps provides free voice navigation on the N97.

I wasn't suggesting Google maps as a method for navigation, merely a means to verify the fact that gps receiver was finding satelites as it gives a reading of the number of sats found top right corner. If google maps could not find a satelite then a problem with  reception, if it could problem with Nokia Maps !

The navigation in Ovi maps tends to assume you are continuing on your route if it thinks you are still moving.  Sometimes in areas with tall buildings, the GPS signal gets blocked or reflected causing your GPS to think you are elsewhere when you haven't moved.  Ovi would assume that you had moved along the plotted route while it tries to verify your position.  This is probably why it thinks you are still moving.

The GPS also tends to lag a little behind on your position.  It may lag a bit further behind when the GPS signal is weak.  Then, when it picks up the signal again, it tries to catch up.  This may also be the cause of the GPS thinking you are still moving.  This can happen in areas of heavy traffic where you move a bit, but the GPS doesn't pick it up until a few seconds later after you have stopped.
