I recently bought a PureView808, and have a couple of questions:

1. Is it possible to record more than 60min of audio with the recorder app? Seems like recordings just stop there.

2. I installed some old Symbian programs, that don't know touchscreen. Is there some way to force the keyboard to come up, so these old apps can get their key input?

If not, I kindly request Nokia to make this possible

1. that may be a limit of the built-in recorder, but your only bet here is to find audio recording applications in the Nokia Store.

2. it is up to the developers of the applications, so you will need to get in touch with them, if they will make it compatible with your device and the firmware version you are running.

I actually use Tiny7 on all my Belle devices inclusive 808.

It is not supported anymore acccording to the developer but it is superb anyway for recording meetings for example.

I think you can check out for Anna devices through Nokia store through your pc..

I know that it isnt available in Nokia store for 808, but I have it installed and it is working just great.

Perhaps In-call ofice otherwise search the store and type all kinds of search words.

1. I looked at the NokiaStore, but couldn't find anything claiming to support the 808's stereo-mics. I want to record music rehearsals. As it stands, I'm fine with Nokia's recorder app, just wish it could do more than 60minutes in high quality stereo.

2.Forcing the keyboard out, could help compatability with legacy apps, it should be a simple fix. I doubt the apps will ever be updated (eg. Citrix client for E61/E70, the program runs fine, and is just waiting for input, cursor flashing - if only I could force the keyboard to appear!

Perhaps you can use the videocamera instead? The file will be bigger (and probably ends after approx. 2GB I guess). But if you block the lens (I doubt a full black image will take much bandwith) and use the lowest resolution then you will have the most bandwith available for your audio.

Does the 5800XM also have dual mics? Perhaps 3rd party apps for that device will work? In fact how do you know that "normal" current 3rd party memo-recorders don't use the rich-recording feature automagically?

@Skytrench, if there is nothing in the Nokia Store then you will have to just video record it instead. I've recorded an hour long video on my N8 with no problems at all.

@Manu_T: no the 5800XM does not have two microphones, only a handful of Symbian devices did, such as the 808. N86 and N8 had some great mics too.

Yeah, there is no 60 minute limit for videos! I just compared 3 recordings (48kHz AAC stereo 192kbps).

A 60min audio only file was about 100MB.

A 60min 720p video file came in at about 600MB (static dark picture).

A 60min 360p 15fps video file resulted in a 250MB file (static dark picture).

Guess thats usable, might even convince the bandmembers to let their ugly mugs show , though the battery time is gonna be reduced.

the other option is to play hard for 60minutes, THEN have drinks and towel break at the 60minute mark and then start another audio-only recording

i meant drinks of water, not alcoholic beverages! but hey then at least you would lose track of space and time, so the 60 minute limit wouldn't apply anymore cos you'd all be too drunk!
