I have just noticed that I have an App appearing in my Menu of Apps, but it does not appear in the list of Installed Apps, and it is a Dictionary. It has a Red Icon, and if I click on it, it comes with "No History File" and then shows "Dictionary Files Missing or have been moved". I notice that at the top left i refers to it as Talking dictionary" It is not however the Talking Dictionary that shows on the Nokia Store which has an Orange icon.
If I long-tap the icon, there is not an option to remove. I also cannot find out what it is, to try and reinstall.
Does anyone know how to remove an orphaned App and it's icon?

Hi wateratz,
Thank you for your post. It seems like this app has been uninstalled but for some reason the shortcut is still showing. Can you try to perform a soft reset on your device using *#7780# the security code by default is 12345.
Performing a soft reset will not delete any of your data, however it will restore all your device settings to how they were when new.

Thanks for that. I tried it, but it is still there. After the reset it is on Home Screen 4 second icon from the right, and is a red icon called Dictionary. If I long press it, I can remove the icon, but it still appears in the Menu as an App. It does not appear as an installed App though. I can't get the details of it, to try and re-install it unfortunately.
I am wondering how under say, X-Plore I could find it and delete it.....but it's not a major, as I can leave it as an orphan, and stick it an NBG (No Bloody Good!) Folder.
Cheers

Hi Craig,
The Mobile Dictionary and its English language file is part of the firmware (on compatible devices), and both the application itself and English do not appear in the list of installed applications. Additional languages are installed from
http://www.nokia.com/global/support/mobile-diction
Notice that English is not an option, it has be on the phone already.
The dictionary is an old application and the Belle refresh may have broken it?

Cheers, it's not a major, as I can just hide it in a folder somewhere. Eventually I will probably get a Pureview 808 or a Lumia 9xx if and when they do one with HDMI and a bigger sensor.
Being an IT Engineer, I was just wondering if under X-Plore, you could browse to somewhere and delete the icon/shortcut to this App.

The menu items are held in "C:\private\200113dd\content\matrixmenudata.xml". If you delete it and reboot the menu will be regenerated, but you've got to re-organise everything to how it was before.
If you can't access this file with X-Plore you'll need to hack the phone.

Just for your info, the dictionary is still fully functional on my N8 after the Belle refresh update.
