Hi,
Am being driven to distraction by quite the worst phone ever the N8 (have installed the latest firmware - wow colours on my screensaver, I sooooooo wanted that!!!).
Trying to do the factory restore, "delete data & restore", want the whole phone wiped, but when I enter code 12345 it says its invalid. On the offchance I set my own when I got it in Nov, I've tried all the only codes I'd ever use to no avail, all invalid!
Is a UK Orange handset, any other codes likely, have tried 54321 even.
Am beyond desperate now & LOATHE the N8 for its constant freezing, network failures, backward unpredictive text, slow responses ......
Just want to do what should be a simple reset but can't even do that - HELP?
My LAST Nokia EVER, gave them the benefit of the doubt with the lousy N86, but this is a new low & teaming up with Microsoft, god help us, they'll be even more stable yeah??!!!!!!!
PS is there anyway to make it beep when it has sent a message, like the N86 did, a superb feature, so naturally they haven't/don't seem to have carried over!

Default Nokia lock code is always 12345, there are no unaccounted for numbers on label of box it came in?

Hi,
Good thinking, Thanks. I just checked the box, nothing that appears astring of 5 #'s, I "assume" that it MUST be a 5 digit code, even if I changed it? Which I'm starting to think i must have, Is it possible for it tohave been changed to a 4 or 6 digit code? tbh I've even those that I use without success in desperation.
Regards,
D

If your phone is locked and you cannot unlock it using the unlock code 12345 you do not have much alternative but to take it to a Nokia Care Point to get it unlocked. Happened to me a few years back. I changed the unlock code and then some time later forgot the code and could not unlock it. Took it to my local NCP and they not only unlocked the phone but also told me what the code was. You will unfortunately have to pay to get it unlocked.

Thanks for you help & advice, I'll take it & get the phone sent off to my usual friendly chap, almost 1st name terms now ha ha! I clearly set my own code, what an idiot for forgetting it, my fault, though its not the main issue. As much as I sl*h Nok's off I know I'll get another, have a masochistic gene I think!!!! Plus everything else never seems any better, better the devil you know eh!
Thanks again, I'll keep informed when sorted.
What a helpful bunch you've been, much appreciated
.
Have good weekends,
Dan
PS any thoughts on making the phone beep after its sent a text message per chance? Is petty but v handy.

To get the phone to beep when it has sent a message you have to activate Receive Reports.
Goto Messaging > Options > Settings > Text Message > and set Receive Report to YES.
Cheers.

@Dano2808.
Out of curiosity, did my method for getting the phone to beep work for you?
Cheers.

It did Ray thanks, but I'm pretty sure Orange charge for delivery reports, so will check my online bill, don't want it that much I'll pay for them.

Have you set the Access Points Priority (Refer Pg. 117 of the User Guide ) as per your requirements / choice ?
