Hi Guys :

My N95 came with 1GB memory card
I started GPS couple of times so i believe it automaticaly downloaded the map of the country i'm in cause i can plan the route to anyplace in this country.
I connected the phone to PC and downloaded English language voice file required for GPS and upgraded the software to V12.
I have sent/received 6 text messages
I have no contacts yet on the memory card , also no songs or images .
Surprisingly if i check the memory card i find 391MB in use and 600MB only free memory !!!
What the hell is using 391MB of my memory ????

Maybe you should re-format the mem. card and load the map and voice again? Just an idea.

If you go to Maps application > Options > Settings > Network

You will see Max. memory card use and cursor is usually way over to the right about 80% capacity. Move it back to about 20% maximum for a 1GB card.

I'm moving the slider back to 20% and closing
When i open settings again it is back to 70%

And frankly speaking i'm afraid of formatting and the things i'll loose
I'm worried that the card came with preinstalled data and formatting might corrupt everything

If you make sure that "show hidden and system files" is enabled on your PC, place microSD in card reader, you can copy content to a new folder on desktop; you could then reformat memory card and copy data back again.

Hi Kaad, i believe the 391MB used on your mem card are the preinstalled maps you get with the phone.. I suggest you use map loader to delete the unwanted maps then install the maps you need using the same application, then change the memory slider in options.

I made sure that the option of viewing hidden folers is enabled
Started PC Suite
Double click File Manager
I can see 4 folders
1- Phone memory
2- Memory card
3- Contacts
4- Messages
If i right click on memory card - properties the used space is 391MB
If i open memory card - select all files - right click -properties , the size is 1 MB
Yes it's ONE MB !!!!!
And by the way i cann't see any hidden folders usually they appear in light yellow colour
In the cities folder i found this file catalog_en_cg.cdt and the size is 328KB
Isn't that amazing ???
