i'm in the uk and after a brand new silver n8. the only place i can get one for a good price is from germany. sorry if these are silly questions but

 

1 - are the specs the same within europe?

2 - is it just a case of selecting 'english' as the language at start up and everything else is the same?

The country-variation is mainly about what languages are supported. All language/country versions do support English. Otherwise they don't vary much (may be some regional differences in packaging and some preinstalled add-on apps).

 

Note that an operator locked device will only work with a specific operator's SIM cards, so avoid those.
