hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this question..

i have recently bought the n95 and for some reson the battery life is really short..i practically have to charge it up every night..does anyone else have this problem? and could i be doing something wrong?

I think it is normal,it has 950 mAh lithium ion battery and it is slightly upgraded from N80. And if y use its multimedia operations,GPS etc it has to be charged once a day.
Y can do this things:
1.Switch wlan scanning off,
2.Set display brightness at relatively lower contrust.
3.Use bluetoth only when y need.
4.This is from my experience, I bought a spare [another same battery] and when I have to go far away from my home I keep it with myself.

What have you upgraded from? If it was a smartphone, especially an N series, this would not be a surprise to you...

I think once the battery's up to full charge it'll last a bit longer, but the points that korngear made are good ones... another that might help would be the 3G - if you don't use video calling, or don't need it generally, switch it to GSM only... it doesn't require a reboot like other models, so it's easy to switch back quickly.

*korngear: i did not realise other multimedia apps would affect it that much! i will be sure to change the settings and see how much battery life i can save.

*richcowell: my previous handset was the sony ericsson k750i, so i was not aware of the "n series reputation". thank you much also for your tip! i will switch it to gsm instead and see how it goes.

You're welcome, glad to help.
If you do a lot of internet browsing / downloading on your mobile then disabling the 3G may not be suitable, but as it's easy to switch, it's worth a try.

Rikowell,by slightly upgraded I meant N95's battery is slightly improved from N80's. And hey! Thanks for admiring my good points.
For battery consumption for multimedia use: plan for what y are goin to hear or view next hours and dont use buttons unnecessarily and best if y set the default settings for each different players[like smartmovie, dvd player etc]. The lessy use buttons the more y will get more time to enjoy.

My question about upgrading was to laisan, who said he'd recently bought the N95, I was just wondering what previous experience he was comparing it to

For battery consumption for phones like N80 and N95:brightness setting is a very important thing though I did not like it. For furtha battery consumption, like if I wish to play songs after midnight I switch to offline mode. Wish nokia could add a option to play soNgs without turn4ng on da phone to save more battery power.

*korngear: it is hard for to me to plan what multimedia apps i will use..but i mainly i guess is the camera, as i am a bit of a photographer at heart and i find that the camera on this handset is just wonderful!! [n_n]..umm..as to the other multimedia functions, i rarely listen to music on it or watch videos..the only music i had transferred to the handset are to be used as ringtones..and i guess any videos i film on it will just be transferred to my pc once i get home etc..just to save memory space [n_n].

laisan, y made my job easy.
If takin pictures is yr real or main objective then do it. Do take pictures with yr customized settings and one thing:if y are in a place where y need to take photos after short time interval y better open that application and close it until y finish.If y are not interested to use multimedia players heavily then battery power luck might be with y.

PS:I feel happy when a female buyer buys an SYMBIAN SERIES 60 SMARTPHONES.
